  1. We lived in next yard to the Graingers on Birdwell Road. They all moved to Winn Gardens in the early 60's then to Stannington. Malcolm was my best mate at school but he died suddenly a few years ago only in his late forties. Stan (the dad ) also died quite young, lost track of the family now.
  2. Hi this is John, Stephens brother-in-law. Thanks for the messages posted expressing your sympathy about his death. It is a sad time, but those who were with him at the end, can now take comfort in knowing that he is free from the pain and suffering he bravely endured. He maintained his humour, regularly joking with the medical staff and us up to only a few days before his death which thankfully was quick and very peaceful. The funeral is on Friday 3rd Feb at City Road 12 noon. I am sure that Janet and the family would appreciate anyone from the old days attending. A bit about myself while I'm on. I have only joined today after speaking to Mick. I lived until I was 11 on Birdwell road, all who know Janet, my sister, Stephens wife, will probably remember me. Dad used to be BB captain at Wesley Hall, Mum the GLB captain and youth club leader, (she is still with us, Dad passed away in 2001).
