  1. Well, I've been visiting Sheffield every year for 2-4 weeks at a time for the last 9 years - and for the most part my experience has been wonderful - great people, spectacular scenery! Although I love, love Canada - I'm excited to move to Sheffield - I think it will be a great place for my daughter to grow up!
  2. Thanks everyone - using rightmove to make a shortlist and arrange some viewings during our annual Christmas visit! I know its early but it doesn't look like real estate is moving too fast so hopefully the places we like will still be available for viewing in Dec/Jan.
  3. He grew up in Grenoside and loved it - but doesn't want to move there. I agree because I need to be mobile on my own and would prefer being close to a train. He would like a large detached house in either Dore, Ranmoor or Fulwood --- I tell him to keep dreaming unless he has some offshore bank account that I'm not aware of.
  4. Looked at s11 - no nice detached that I can afford-
  5. Thanks for all the advice - Rightmove is a great website! Especially since you can see where the schools are and view their OFSTED reports! What is Chapeltown like? There are several detached homes there within our budget that look very modern and spacious. Does anyone recommend living there - S35?
  6. Hi, I'm moving to Sheffield from Canada in 2012. I have a 6 year old daughter and want to know where to look for a house. Our budget will be about 200,000 to 230,000 GBP. My husband is from Sheffield but has been in Canada for almost 20 years and is not familiar with the market anymore. I want a really good school, a SAFE neighbourhood with good transportation. I won't be driving (until I get used to being on the other side of the road )- so will need to be able to get to work (hopefully if I find work) via bus/train. So where will my budget buy a good sized home (3 bedroom+, preferably detached) and still be safe and accessible? Also - can I get a buying agent in the UK or do I have to do all the searching on my own?
