  1. I do a lot of work within community groups in my area on a voluntary basis. I also go out every fri and sat night in my local area and try and offer some sort of guidance and direction to these young people. Posting a thread on sheffield forum is also a way of generating constructive discussion and maybe finding other routes that can be used to support our youth. negative people like u r better to stay on facebook and chat to ur own friend group who understand ur issues
  2. i worked in the system for a long delivering front line services. Kinda old school youth work without the politics, but was speaking to some1 by chance yesterday who works with sheffield futures and he was telling me about the cuts that have been made and how as a youth worker he only gets to spend 15% of his time working face to face with young people. Its a shame when a city like sheffield can spend £2mil on policing a conference but can not spend on good workers to work with our youth
  3. problem kids.... theres no such thing. They are just young people with no direction who need intervention.
  4. thats the attitude i'm on about....... no hope
  5. apprentiships and other things maybe available, but there is no one out there directing them. The system may reach out to a number of young people but what about the ones who really need help
  6. Talk about building for the future, why are we not investing in our youth. We are quick to complain about young people and their attitudes, but the truth is there is nothing out there for them. The youth service is going to pots, making obscene cuts at a time when they should be doing more to engage these young people and divert there energies into more constructive activities. Times are difficult for our youth and the temptations out there are growing. We need to act quickly before we lose a total grip.......
