  1. The rules for Housing and Council Tax Benefit may allow it as shown below (depends on the specifics). Normally the rules are the same across all national benefits, but I would check it out.

    "14A. — SI 2006/2378

    (1) Any payment made to the claimant or the claimant's partner in consequence of any personal injury to the claimant or, as the case may be, the claimant's partner.

    (2) But sub-paragraph (1)—

    (a) applies only for the period of 52 weeks beginning with the day on which the claimant first receives any payment in consequence of that personal injury; "

We dont get any benefits like these, its just tax credits. Will give solicitor a ring to check.

  2. We have an xbox downstairs and a router upstairs connected to the internet. Am I right in saying all we need now is an xbox wireless adaptor to plug into the xbox itself? If so, will this be compatible with the router we have?

I know you need to subscribe to xbox live but you can have a 30 day trial first cant you?

    Any help would be great.

  3. virgin media can be dodgy, I paid my last bill with someone elses

visa card, she was there and had given me permission, but the virgin media rep

processed the payment without speaking to the card holder !

They have also rung me about a late payment, asked my password and address

but didn't ask for any bank details, although I did say I would ring them back

and make payment as I don't tell just anyone my password and they could be anyone ! lol

and what if they had asked to speak with the account holder, how would they have known it was truely them???!

Do you ever order anything off the internet? loadof companies accept third party cards.

  4. I think it was only recently when it all became computerised that places started to charge for retests. At then end of the day its doen to that individual garage to decide what their retest policy is.

If I was your sister I'd probably call around a couple of other garages and get some quotes for the jobs listed on failure sheet. Good luck to her anyway, hope she gets it fixed for cheaper than what shes been quoted already.

  5. You are in a 12 month contract. You will have to pay edf's (early disconnection fees) for the remainding months of the contract. You're right in saying they ask for 30 days notice to disc but YOU agreed to a 12 month contract so is this what they are holding you to.

I understand you may not have known you were moving out of the country when you first signed up but Its basically tough unfortunately. Before when it was Telewest, they used to let you out of your contract when you moved house to a non servicable address but they changed this even before they merged with NTL and then became Virgin Media.

You'll pay your normal fee for the remainding 30 days and then the edf charge will be 10.00 per service per month. If you're on free tv(size medium) you wont get charged for this. The edf will appear on your final bill when the disc takes place.

  6. I was in Primark today and I took some knickers to try on. The lady who was in charge of the changing room said I couldn't try them on. "How shall I know if they fit?" I asked "You can't try them on" she snarled back. "I can have a refund then if they dont fit when I try them on at home?" "No" she snarled again.

So I left knickerless. Whats the rules about this. I always thought that shops had to give a refund for items of clothing if you hadn't been allowed to try them on before buying.

    You've got to be kiddin'

  7. Dear Andyrad and AJ Sheffield,

I do agree with you but I also want to examine my situation.I paid a deposit to buy the car on the belief that I was sold a car for the right price and is the best(the saleman went on that Direct Car prices are always below £500 than anyone).Within hours I found hundred of cars which are £1200 lesser and done 10,000miles lesser.

I signed the deposit at around 7 PM and rang them next day morning at 9 AM. Direct Cars had one hour of trading and they couldn't have lost anything or done any damage.Instead I am held hostage to buy a product which I know is inferior. If you buy anything in a retail shop, will you not take it back if you don't like or missold ,why should this be any different.

Moreover the deposit is kept to cover the loss, realistically tell me Direct Cars have lost £500 in a hour on an used car in the forecourt because of me.It is daylight robbery and even if they want damages it should be fair, not £500 of hard earned money.Where is a consumer's right. There should be some fairness, that's all I ask.

Direct Cars are very punitive to a customer who have done regular business with them.I will never trust a motor dealer agin.

Well surely thats your fault for not doing your homework and looking around first!
