hyper   10 #13 Posted July 12, 2016 Hi Can someone advise if I have 2 houses already and paying 1 council tax as the wall is knocked out internally, can we combine both houses to make it 1 house on the land registry so the address is 1 and not 2 different addresses? I'm asking on behalf of a friend so not me who has the 2 houses.  Thanks probably (Im no expert) but as the house will be bigger with more rooms the council tax banding is likely to shift upwards. Example if there are two 2-bedroom houses on band A now, it will end up something like 1 house on band D as the combined house has 4 beds, more reception rooms etc. It won't mean he just pays half of what he pays now. faz2kool   10 #14 Posted July 12, 2016 Thanks but he is already paying a higher Tax band as the council are aware of it. He just wants 1 address to be registered on the land registry. Can this be done?
 Share this content via...
Jeffrey Shaw   90 #15 Posted July 15, 2016 I'm thinking of purchasing my next doors house and converting both houses into one... Anything else [to] look out for? Yes: make sure that both are freehold. If one is leasehold, or if both are, there's a risk of problems re compliance with leasehold covenants- and extra fees.
