Whats on:

Photography Critique Evening - 26/01/11 - 19.00 - 21.00 - Our regular photography critique session is back for 2011. The evening aims to provide helpful feedback and comment for photographers from the early stages of an idea to the final edit of a project.

1 Day Creative Writing Class - 26/01/11 - 10.30 - 16.30 - Can’t commit to a weekly class? Whether you’re halfway through a novel or only just starting to write, this 1-day class could be just what you’re looking for!

Occupation: Contamination - 11/01/11 - 22/01/11 - “Plastic bags drive our economy from mass production, convenience and disposability. But it is these bags that contaminate the environment, cause instability, harm and irritation to nature. A visual pollution, an act of vandalism or carelessness, plastic bags are not only driving our economy but ruining it at the same time.”

Occupation: Eye to Eye/Nothing New - 18/01/11 - 29/01/11 - Nothing New: An evolving slideshow of photographs made during the exhibition period, updated regularly throughout the fortnight. With this project Tom anticipates “capturing strange non-moments of life, mostly taken in suburban areas of Sheffield. Photographing banal moments of transition that occur in everyday life, that appear awkward and surreal.”

Going Nowhere - 11/01/11 - 05/02/11 - Claire Tindale, special jury prize winner in the 2009 Sheffield Artists’ Book Prize, presents an exhibition of interdisciplinary work concerned with the machinations of the human mind…

Occupation: The Street - 01/02/11 - 12/02/11 - ‘The Street’, created by a group of students from the University of Sheffield’s School of Architecture, is an active, developing street model, which through the public’s imagination will manifest into a representation of our most prominent urban environment.

Spontaneous Cities - 08/02/11 - 05/03/11 - Anne Rook, special jury prize winner in the 2009 Sheffield Artists’ Book Prize, presents an exhibition of animation, sculptures and inkjet prints around the theme of Spontaneous Cities.

Metal: A Photographic Exhibition - 25/03/11 - 24/04/11 - An exhibition featuring photographs of Sheffield’s steel industries for Galvanize festival 2011.

Jewellery Exhibition - 25/03/11 - 24/04/11 - An exhibition of work from Bank Street Arts Jewellery Co-operative for Galvanize 2011.
