Please join the committee!
Â
It's rolling around to the AGM and a new committee. As you're probably well aware, as a committee we've not been busy organising socials or trips away this year, with all committee members feeling a bit overstretched elsewhere. We'd like to see this change with a new, larger committee to inject some more energy into the club and have more 'extra-curricular' activities, whilst reducing the demands on individual committee members.
Â
Please consider if you could spare some time to join the committee and help make this happen. You might like to take on a formal role such as chair, secretary, treasurer or social secretary, or be part of the committee but without a formal role. We'd also be interested in having a committee member to look after our league commitments (that could be a deputy chair role perhaps, or perhaps split the secretary role into 2 posts).
Â
The most obvious duties of committee members revolves around managing Tuesday and Thursday badminton sessions, particularly collecting the money for these from players, and paying for courts. Maybe less obvious are the group's league commitments (assuming the club enters a team in the league), keeping track of finances, arranging other events and trips away (or not, this year: Big thanks to Ruth and Lee for arranging events this year), staying on top of social media, the club website and club emails, organising club T-shirts (something else we didn't do this year).
Â
The current committee (this could be you!):
Ryan (chair): Stepping down
Phil (secretary): Would like to step down, or move to a supporting role
Andrew (treasurer): Would like to step down, or move to a supporting role
Kanishk (no formal role): Would like to step down, or move to a supporting role
Â
Suggested additional committee members (this could be you!):
Social secretary
Deputy chair or league secretary
Member(s) without formal roles
Â
Historically the AGM when the new committee is formed happens in August. However, since August is a time when many people are / have been away and distracted (including the committee), we're going to have the AGM in September instead (date coming soon) when we hope your thoughts will be on your favourite badminton club and what committee role you'd like to take there...
