  1. two weeks ago I was arguing with a friend that her stone fronted terrace would look tacky if she replaced her wooden guttering with plastic, but knew it was an argument I was losing. Since then, every surrounding property with plastic guttering has lost its guttering, but their old, rotten wooden stuff is still at least attached to the house

Wooden wins - they're replacing in wood :D

tradition guttering always looks best , but look at my web site for plastic that looks like and does the same as wooden guttering

  2. i notice there are lots of people offering their services, but no actual recommendations.

do all of you that have advertised have feedback/reviews/comments anywhere?

    heres a recommend sophie

Thanks to all who replied to initial post. I decided on Mally350z (Crosspool & Hallam Property Services) - ask for Malcolm. Can highly recommend him - prompt and turns up on time, is very reasonable with price and does the job very quickly and to a high standard. Will definitely use him again in the future.
  3. I have had a quote from a kitchen fitter who has priced up a kitchen from Sheffield Kitchen outlet.

£5200 for midrange kitchen with appliances including dishwasher, extractor, 5 ring hob & double oven (approx 10 units)

    £850 labour

I think it seems quite steep. We had another quote from Direct Kitchens who quoted £6500 but I thought that was really expensive, so expected Sheffield Kitchen outlet and a separate fitter would work out cheaper.

Also, we have had a quote to have the loadbearing wall in the kitchen diner removed and replaced with RSJ and have been quoted £1200. Does that sound right too?

you will req building regs for the removal of the wall , i just done my own and the steel work alone was £250 , Building regs @£100 , structural eng to calc the load £180 , all + vat so £1200 dont sound bad to me ,wren kitchens supplied my kitchen
