Hi everyone, I know there have been quite a few of us posting on the forum recently but I wonder if anyone can help... I am a final year Journalism student writing a portfolio on hate crime. Under the Home Office definition a hate crime is any crime where the victim is targeted because of their race, ethnicity or nationality, because of their sexual orientation, their gender identity, their religion, faith or beliefs or because they have a disabilty. Have you ever been the victim of a hate crime or hate 'incident' (not an actual crime but perhaps some sort of discrimination)? OR have you been targeted for some reason other than the ones outlined in the Home Office definition and felt as though it should be classed as a hate crime? (e.g. maybe because of the way you dress - for example if you are a goth?) Please send me a message if you have and would be willing to help with my portfolio. Thanks

Yeh you are right, I suppose that technically it is cheating - but we are travelling over 1,200 miles so I think asking for a little help to get out of Sheffield can be forgiven!? Like Sharp87 mentioned, a lot of people get their mum or dad to pick them up and drive them all the way to Dover which I reckon is a bit of a cop out - at least we're not doing that. Thank you for your good luck wishes and the advice. I'll be sure to keep it in mind and we won't putting ourselves in a situation where we don't feel safe! We are still looking for a lift and hoping to get onto the M1 south bound, even just as far as the first service station where we will be more likely to find a lift. If anyone can help or knows anyone who may be able to help it will be really appreciated! x

Hello, My name is Sarah and i'm a student at Sheffield Uni. Me and two friends are taking part in a hitch hike for charity. We are setting off from Sheffield on Wednesday morning and are hoping to reach Budapest, Hungary, in 7 days on a budget of £15. The three of us have already raised a total of £600 for charity. One of the most challenging parts will be hitching in the UK, and getting from Sheffield to the ferry port at Dover. Is anyone travelling south on Wednesday? And would anyone be willing to give us a lift to get us started!? It doesn't matter how far you're going, as long as it is in the right direction! Hi I'm looking into the pro's and con's of attending an organised bonfire night event as opposed to holding your own. (Safety issues mainly, but also cost and convenience issues etc) Has anyone had any of their own bonfire night disasters or fireworks mishaps!?

Just read on the bbc website about a stabbing on foxglove road, firth park at about 9pm on thursday 3rd april. aparently a 15 year old recieved a serious stab womb to his arm and two 14 year olds were being questioned. just wondering if anyone knows anything more about this? Like what happened to the kid who got stabbed, is he alright now? Did anyone get charged? Never really heard of anything like this happening in the firth park area before, Is there a problem with violent teenagers in that area?
