Following on from the success of their St Valentines Feast in February and Mother’s day lunch in March, Blend have created a great tasting, great value menu using the best in local and seasonal produce. Dishes include a warm salad of English Asparagus with peas, parsley and lemon oil, salmon with radish, watercress and sorrel, a North African sharing platter of spring lamb and to finish a rhubarb and cardamom jelly with strawberries and orange sorbet. The event is great value for money at just £22.50 for the 6 course feast and is also completely gluten free with a fantastic vegan menu also available.   2. This March, why not celebrate Mother’s Day with Blend Kitchen @ The Printhouse. Centrally located, just behind Sheffield cathedral (off Campo Lane), we're serving a delicious*3 course Sunday lunch celebrating the flavours of early spring. The menu proves great value for money at just £16 for adults and £8 for children for 3 courses.*Along with great food, all mums will get a complementary cocktail up on arrival, while we've also got bring your own booze for this event. To begin; Smoked mackerel*– fillet of smoked mackerel, potato and beetroot salad with a horseradish crème fraiche Spring vegetable broth – a light vegetable broth with peas, broad beans, spinach and macaroni, with a lemon and basil pistou Chicken, ham and leek terrine – layers of poached chicken and ham set in a tarragon cream and wrapped in blanched leek.   3. This February at Blend Kitchen our inspiration is taken from the birth of a Roman festival in Florence over 2000 years ago. Following a ban on marriage by the loveless Emperor Claudius II, the people’s hero ‘Valentine’ flaunted this decree and secretly married 100’s of couples – until the furious Claudius found him out and put to death on February 14th! But this hero of love was made immortal by those he married, who founded a feast day in his name to commemorate his death and declare their love. Great Food – A sumptuous 5 course feast using the best locally sourced produce showcasing the flavours and colours of Tuscany. Blend kitchen is currently open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday lunchtime between 12 and 1.30 and Friday and Saturday evenings from December serving a weekly changing menu that uses the best in local seasonal produce.   6. We are launching a new takeaway service from Blend Kitchen @ The Printhouse every Thursday and Friday. It's the perfect option if you work in town and don't want a sandwich for your lunch. Blend's 'Gourmet Takeaway' is a chance to enjoy the food served at Blend Kitchen, without having to take too long for your lunch break. With a weekly changing menu, you're guaranteed to have something new to try each week.   7. This lunch time we're going to be serving a 5 course meal for just £12 at Blend Kitchen.   8. This Saturday at the Norfolk Arms in Grenoside is the Blend & Mix start of summer party. The event combines our delicious Asian BBQ menu, live DJ's playing an eclectic mix of funk, soul, ska and disco and a range of fun children's activities (including bouncy castle) till 6pm.   9. Every Tuesday we run a pop up cafe at the Broomhall centre on Broomspring Lane serving a selection of delicious breakfasts and lunches. We're open between 10am and 1.30pm with the cafe providing training to people looking for work. From May 5th we'll be running a cafe at St John's memorial hall on Forbes Road in Hillsborough.   11. Fancy something different for your Sunday lunch this week? We're launching our Asian BBQ street food events at the Wharncliffe Arms in Chapeltown from 2pm. We've got satay, tandoori chicken, lamb kofte, pork char-sui, teriyaki salmon served with a selection of salads, breads and sauces. Meals are priced between £5 and £7 and can all be washed down with some delicious local beers available inside.
  12. This April we're launching our street food events starting off on April 16th at Wharncliffe Arms in Chapeltown. From 1pm till 5pm we'll be serving a range of delicious BBQ options including beef satay, tandoori chicken and teriyaki salmon. We've got loads more events planned throughout the summer, we'll keep you updated of where and when are next events will be!
  13. February see’s the launch of community food project Blend’s pop up cafes in Longley and Broomhall. Running weekly on a Monday at the Longley 4 Greens community centre on Southey Avenue and on a Tuesday at the Broomhall Centre, Broomspring Lane, Broomhall, the cafés will be serving a range of hot and cold breakfasts and lunches to eat in or take away. The cafes will be using the best of local produce while taking inspiration from around the world for all their dishes. Dishes will range from chorizo and red pepper beans on toast and vegetable Laksa to bacon butties and cottage pie. The cafes will also be providing training and practical experience for participants on Blend’s community café training programme. The training provides support to people looking for either paid employment or who want to volunteer in their local communities. Funded by the Big Lottery, the programme provides participants with a food hygiene training, 1 to 1 careers advice and practical experience of working in catering setting. Since beginning in January of this year, the programme is working with 20 Sheffield residents with plans to recruit more participants as the cafes expand. The income from the cafes will contribute to the ongoing running of Blend’s free employment and health and wellbeing activities.
