  1. into oblivion, it's the speed and the nature of the loss that we are concerned about.

too-rapid a loss is not good for the person's health. It can cause heart problems, and the quicker the weight comes off, the quicker it tends to go back on.

Starvation levels of nutrition are not healthy. the body goes into starvation mode, which makes it more likely that the weight will clap back on, and more, once the diet has ended.

Agreed but you're missing my point. And besides, the diet that many obese people have is surely more likely to be bad for their health than a diet which significantly lowers BP, quick or not. Lighter life has a maintenance programme specially designed to allow re education and re introduction of food so the weight will not return. It's up to the individual person if they are prepared to follow this or not.

  2. Really, I'm amazed. I've seen so much rubbish spouted about the diet industry, but your comments here are simply bizarre! Take food out of the equation? What, by not eating it?? Remove the food, so remove the obsession with it? :shakes:

So you don't think that, for example, they won't go running screaming for the nearest tub of Ben and Jerry's when they've gone without food for however many days?

    I'm just... speechless.

Food is a serious addiction. Smokers can't really smoke again, alcoholics can't drink again. So what for the person addicted to food? Hmmm

You are missing the point of lighter life completely.

So what if for once in someones life they'll get to experience themselves without the mask of fat....ok maybe that won't last...maybe they'll return...but for that short precious period it'll be theirs to remember.

I've done this diet and I do appreciate both sides of the argument and wish to god I could have dieted normally too...but I couldn't. If it works and makes someone happy then please tell me why this is so bad...

Ketosis is where your body is breaking itself down, and it makes your breath stink putrid. (that's the toxins produced by your body "eating itself", and not in a healthy way, Note!!!))

The more I hear about this "diet" the unhappier I become, and more mistrustful.

Nothing can replace sensible eating. The effect that this literlife gubbins has on one is basically a very costly crash diet. Ask any dietician, and they will tell you it is not healthy to crash diet.

Crash diets, especially if you gain and lose, gain and lose in rapid succession, it can have devastating consequences for your heart-health.

Slow and sure, wins the game, and the aim should be, if you feel "forced" to diet, to lose in the region of 2-3 lbs per week.

This is a healthy amount to lose.

True but sometimes people need to eliminate food entirely in order to succeed. Yes, perhaps that does indicate something of an eating disorder but since losing the weight my friends BP has dropped to a healthy level, she is fit enough to not keel over during exercise etc. Ok so maybe the problem with food is not entirely gone. But seriously, If you are overweight (obese really) do you think that it's possible NOT to have an eating disorder?!

I know I'm going off the topic, I just feel that healthy sensible eating is not always an option as people over eat usually for emotional reasons, yes agreed it should be but it's not possible when someone has an unhappy and unhealthy relationship with food. Lighter life takes food out of the equation so you can examine your reasons behind the obsession with food,

For example, if you are feeling unhappy....no food to turn to. So lighter life means you actually DEAL with that emotion.

    Anyway, enough babbling.

test yourself first.......can you drink 4 litres of water a day. Lighterlife only works if you drink this amount of water.

the thing is if you try drinking 4 litres of water a day and eat fruit and balanced meals, you'll probably find that you are full and you will loose weight.

It's a lot of water to dink in one day, I think I managed about 2 1/2 litres per day, and we have one of those big american fridges which filters water and gives you auto ice, so it was made easy for me!!! but was constantly at the loo.

but on saying that I have now lost nearly 2 stone in just under 2 1/2 months, without paying £46.00 per week.

my other advice is that if you are still wanting to go ahead with lighterlife nip on ebay as people often sell a couple of the mixes for a few pound. this way you could try them before you sign up to anything

    ebay lighterlife

The 4 litres of water per day is to flush out the ketones developed through the fat burning process (which are poison to the body) so without the water headaches will develop. So the diet still works with less water but you won't feel as well. You can try some of my friends old mixes for free if you want.

If you ate how you ate before then you would of course return the week. But do you eat 'normally' now? If so then weight gain is from some other cause and not excess calorie intake.

Lighter life re educates about portion size

  6. My friend did lighter life, lost around 5 stone and has never looked back. It's a gruelling 100 days but once you get into ketosis then the hunger goes and you got really euphoric. She was never happier than during those 100 days.

It's in Penistone, around 45 quid a week. Anyone wants any further info PM me, I can even show you her pics she likes to show them off!
