  1. This month see's the end of one Sheffield's longest running comedy clubs. After 5 years Abbcom is delivering its last laugh on the 25th July. Over the last 5 years we have had some of the best new acts from across the country performing at Bar Abbey, with many becoming household name or well established proffesional acts. Joe Lycett, Chris Ramsey, Kai Humphries, Carl Hutchinson, Alfie Moore to name but a few. To be fair we have also had a load of rubbish aswell but that was half the fun. So come down to Bar Abbey on the 25th and enjoy the mixed bag of comedy that has made the club a success over the last 5 years. All profits will be going to local charity supported by Bar Abbey. Closing the final show is Multi award winning exponent of interactive standup Sully O Sullivan. “wicked sense of humour, gets the audience involved from the kick off” BBC (UK) “a blast of hilarity” Manchester Evening News (UK) Bar Abbey, 387 Abbeydale Road, S7 1FS. Show starts at 8:30, doors, 7:30. ---------- Post added 18-07-2013 at 20:25 ---------- O and for those who where regulars a few years ok, resident Mc Gareth Urwin has come out of retirement for one night only!! It you want to here his joke about his gran one last time, come down on the 25th!
  2. Abbcom is back this month and better than ever with Rob Alexander, Joe White, James Anfield and Steve Goodall. Closing the show is the excellent Tony Jameson Currently playing or compering at weekend clubs such as The Stand, Off The Kerb and Glee Tony supported WWE Hall of Famer, Mick Foley as part of his UK tour, as well as pre-tour warm up shows for Kevin Bridges, Stewart Francis and Frankie Boyle at The Stand. 'Cannot help but watch in awe' - Comedy Central ' Wonderful' - The Skinny Doors open at 7:30, show at 8:30. Bar Abbey, Abbeydale Road, S7 1FS.
  3. Abbcom @ Bar Abbey is back this Thursday with a cracking bill of comedy. Joe Broomhead is joined by a number of new acts and established acts trying new material. Joe Broomhead An instant hit with the audience with a completely unique and hilarious opening which places the audience in the palm of his hand right from the start. Other acts include Will Duggan, Chris Mcllory, Simon Ramesdan and Richard Jow Thurs 30th, Doors 7:30 Show 8:30pm Abbcom, 387 Abbeydale Road £4
  4. We have a great line up of comedy next Saturday (25th) at the Fluer de Lys in Totely. Wes Zaharuk One of the most original comics currently working the UK. Wes is from Canada and is one of the funniest and madcap physical comedians around. Wes entertains with his hilarious and anarchic physical comedy routines and is easily one of the most exciting acts on the comedy and cabaret circuit. This is definitely one of the zaniest shows on the market. Mad as a box of badgers Zaharuk raises the roof with his physical interactive comedy. A rip-roaring jump into the surreal. If you like to laugh you won't want to miss this comic in action. Michael J Dolan Michael J Dolan’s intriguingly unique, deliciously ‘cup half empty’ worldview has been screaming to impose itself upon the greater populous for many years. Finally, through the medium of stand up comedy, his hate-fuelled yet beguiling outlook became available for all to (un)happily revel in. Since 2007 Dolan has been building a reputation as a highly cerebral comic with the innate ability to make audiences contemplate the world from a very different angle, and thoroughly enjoy doing so. “Michael J Dolan is a very, very funny man.” 4 Stars, The Skinny Paul F Taylor Paul F Taylor is a one of a kind comedian. An instantly watchable performer with the craftsmanship more established acts could only dream of. He is known for his inventive offbeat observational humour and his playfully engaging delivery. Nominated as GQ Magazine’s comedian of the week, Paul has a reputation of being a superb writer who gleefully combines leftfield one liners with astute observational comedy. Taylor is an original and hilarious act who always leaves audiences begging for more. "Gleeful and insistent silliness” Three Weeks Mc for the night is Katie Mulgrew. Tickets £10 in advance, call box office on 07944 558403, visit venue or email thefleurdelyshotel@hotmail.co.uk. Fluer de lys, Totely Hall Lane, S17 4AA. Doors 7.00, Show 8:30
  5. We have a great line up of comedy this Saturday at the Fluer de Lys in Totely. Seymour Mace Like a truly bizarre hybrid of Harry Hill, Half Man Half Biscuit and Viz comic Seymour is a teller of extremely tall tales and High Priest of the terrifically twisted one-liner. He is a former City Life Comedian of the Year and Best Breakthrough Act at the North West Comedy Awards. He has featured on ‘Dave’s One Night Stand’, ‘The Weird World Of Russell Brand’, ‘The Stand-Up Show’ and ‘Clive Anderson’s Chat Room’. He was also a regular in BBC2′s Johnny Vegas sitcom ‘Ideal’ ‘Brilliantly weird’ – chortle.co.uk ‘Relentless originality…manic and gripping’ – The Guardian Diane Spencer Chortle Best Newcomer Award Winner Diane Spencer is a hilarious storyteller, who has Timotei looks and a mouth like a sailor – packing her set with punchlines, Diane has been compared to Joan Rivers and Sarah Millican. “Indiscreetly brilliant” SCOTSMAN “Raucously entertaining” CHORTLE Steve Bugeja Very good, balancing physical comedy with witty observations’ – Three Weeks ‘scenarios acted out with slickness’ – Chortle Mc for the night is Elliot J Huntley. Each act gets 2 minutes, and then the audience decide on who to keep on stage and who to send off! Gong shows are always a great laugh so come down if you fancy a great night of comedy and entertainment. 8. We have a great line up of comedy this Easter holiday at the Fluer de Lys in Totely. Sam Avery Despite being signed up by BMG Records at the age of 17 (he had to resign from his beloved paper round), and subsequent tours with Motorhead and Ice T, the story soon took a familiar turn. Contracts were anulled, money was stolen and before he knew it he was back at the paper shop asking for his fluorescent bag back. Subsequent jobs (including a brief stint as a stockbroker) failed to excite him the way the smell of sweat and snakebite had and it wasn't long before he turned to stand-up. Friendly and enthusiastic, his observational style instantly puts audiences at ease allowing him to regale them with his tales of everyday life. Sam has gained a reputation for being able to spark the dullest of rooms into life with his warm, infectious humour and quick wit which makes him ideal as either an act or compere. “Works the crowd with verve and confidence…you could scarcely ask for a better opening act” – Giggle and Funk Nathan Caton Star of Russell Howards Good News and Mock the Week. Nathan Caton has been active on the UK comedy circuit since the tender age of 19. He excels in combining both personal, confessional material with up-to-date social and political anecdotes. This has won him numerous credits and plaudits over the years and has made him one of the hottest rising young stars on the circuit ‘Caton is probably the most exciting young black comic on the scece’ Fest Katie Mulgrew Katie Mulgrew has a friendly and likeable style, but behind the bonhomie, there’s a slightly cynical edge. Her North-West bluntness is as appealing as her seemingly limitless confidence, all presented with engaging wide-eyed enthusiasm. “Engaging” **** Tickets £10 in advance, call box office on 07944 558403, visit venue or email thefleurdelyshotel@hotmail.co.uk. Fluer de lys, Totely Hall Lane, S17 4AA. Doors 7.00, Show 8:30

"What he lacks in height he certainly makes up for in talent, getting the biggest laughs of the night" - ThreeWeeks Brendan Riley There’s nothing bland or predictable about this stand-up comic. Brendan’s Liverpudlian accent and lively blend of anecdotes, gags and inspired improvisation bring a refreshing blast of cheerful North Western humour and make him a sought after host and headline act at major comedy venues, Universities and festivals: "One of the brighter names from the North West” Guardian "Riley can be relied on to do the job required of him - to make the audience laugh" Chortle With your Mc Scott Bennett Tickets £10 in advance.
