Rapunzel – Handsworth & Hallam Theatre Company (Montgomery Theatre, Sheffield)

A hair-larious family pantomime comes to the Montgomery Theatre

Get ready for cheers, boos, and big laughs as Handsworth and Hallam Theatre Company bring their vibrant new pantomime Rapunzel to the Montgomery Theatre this January.

Packed with classic panto fun, colourful characters, and plenty of audience participation, this amateur production promises a joyful treat for families and panto fans of all ages.

The story

Many years ago, a King and Queen were blessed with a baby girl with magical golden hair — but their happiness was short-lived. The jealous and evil Mother Gothel kidnapped the child and locked her away in a tower, selfishly using her powers for herself.

With the help of local hairdresser Dame Fanny Follicle, her silly son Pascal, and the dashing Prince Ryder, Rapunzel embarks on a quest for freedom. But will she finally escape the tower and discover her destiny?

Why you’ll love it

  • Classic fairytale pantomime with a comic twist

  • Boo-worthy villains, lovable heroes, and a cheeky dame

  • Plenty of audience participation and family-friendly humour

  • A lively script by Tom Whalley Pantomimes

This feel-good production is perfect for post-Christmas family outings and a great way to enjoy local amateur theatre at its best.
