A celebration of Mozart’s chamber music masterpieces in Sheffield
Mozart Quintets brings together three of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s most admired chamber works in a richly rewarding evening performance by Ensemble 360.
Taking place at the intimate Tanya Moiseiwitsch Playhouse, this concert offers audiences the chance to experience Mozart’s music up close — full of elegance, emotional depth, and unmistakable humanity.
The programme
The evening features three contrasting quintets, each highlighting a different facet of Mozart’s genius:
Horn Quintet (approx. 16 minutes) A joyful and virtuosic work, bursting with warmth and character.
Clarinet Quintet (approx. 31 minutes) One of Mozart’s most lyrical creations, written as he explored both his close musical friendships and the expressive potential of the then-new clarinet.
String Quintet in G minor (approx. 35 minutes) Haunting, intense, and ultimately hopeful, this piece is widely regarded as the crowning achievement of Mozart’s writing for strings.
Together, these works form a compelling portrait of a composer whose music continues to resonate across centuries.
