A joyful introduction to live music for young imaginations
By popular request, Family Concert: Izzy Gizmo returns to Sheffield as part of the Sheffield Chamber Music Festival, presented by Music in the Round at the Crucible.
Specially designed for children aged 3–7, this delightful family concert brings to life the much-loved children’s story Izzy Gizmo, written by Pip Jones and illustrated by Sara Ogilvie.
What’s the story?
Izzy Gizmo is an inventive young problem-solver who loves building brilliant — and sometimes bonkers — machines. When she meets a crow who can’t fly, Izzy sets out to help, learning along the way that creativity, perseverance and teamwork matter more than getting everything right first time.
This heartwarming tale of curiosity and compassion is brought vividly to life through live music, narration and visuals, making it an engaging and accessible first concert experience.
Music, storytelling and playful sounds
Performed by Ensemble 360 with narration by Lucy Drever, the concert features original music by Paul Rissmann.
Young audiences will hear:
Strings, woodwind, horn and piano
Unusual sound effects using pots, pans, whistles and household objects
Songs, actions and moments to join in
The combination of live musicians, storytelling and projected illustrations makes this a lively, welcoming and imaginative concert for the whole family.
