Single White Female – Sheffield LyceumA razor-sharp psychological thriller hits the Sheffield stage
The iconic 90s thriller gets a chilling modern makeover as Single White Female makes its world premiere stage adaptation at the Lyceum Theatre.
Presented by JAS Theatricals, ATG Productions and Gavin Kalin Productions, and adapted for the stage by Rebecca Reid, this bold new production updates the story for the age of social media, online obsession, and curated identities — with stiletto-sharp suspense throughout.
Sharing a flat can be murder…
Allie is a recently divorced mum, juggling single parenthood with the launch of her tech start-up. When she advertises for a lodger to help make ends meet, the charming and capable Hedy appears to be the perfect solution.
But as their lives intertwine, boundaries blur. Trust fractures. And what begins as a lifeline slowly twists into something far more dangerous.
Friendship becomes fixation.
Support turns to control.
And behind every closed door, something darker is waiting.
Star casting and creative pedigree
The production stars Kym Marsh (Coronation Street, Waterloo Road, Abigail’s Party) alongside Lisa Faulkner (Holby City, Murder in Suburbia, John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen).
From the producers of the hit stage adaptation of The Girl on the Train, this gripping thriller combines dark humour, psychological tension, and a relentless sense of unease that builds to a shocking conclusion.

The Ladies Football Club – World Premiere at Sheffield CrucibleA powerful Sheffield story of football, friendship and forgotten history
Set against the backdrop of Sheffield during the First World War, The Ladies Football Club is a bold new production that brings to life the extraordinary true story of women who changed the game — both on and off the pitch.
With men sent to the front line, the women of Sheffield take their place in the factories, forging bombs, bullets… and unexpected freedom. When they begin kicking a football around on their lunch breaks, it becomes clear they’re not just filling in on the factory floor — they’re discovering talent, teamwork, and joy on the football pitch too.
What starts as a casual kickabout grows into something remarkable, as these women go on to play in front of crowds of more than 50,000 people — all while unaware that forces beyond their control are about to bring their beautiful game to a sudden halt.
Creative team
Written by Stefano Massini, the internationally acclaimed writer of The Lehman Trilogy, and adapted by Tim Firth(Calendar Girls), this brand-new Sheffield Theatres production explores sport, solidarity and social change — reminding us that the final result isn’t always the one on the scoreboard.
As the play puts it:
“We felt the love from the very first kick.”
Why this show matters
Celebrates Sheffield’s hidden sporting history
Explores women’s labour, visibility and resilience
Connects football, war and social change
A story rooted in Sheffield, told on one of its greatest stages
This is a moving, rousing and timely piece of theatre — about who gets remembered, who gets erased, and what it means to play for something bigger than the scoreline.

Jasad: Music for Middle Eastern Flute – Faris Ishaq (Playhouse, Sheffield)An immersive solo performance rooted in ancient sound and modern expression
Experience the powerful, hypnotic sound world of Jasad, a striking solo performance from Faris Ishaq — master of the Nay, one of the oldest flutes still in use today.
Rooted in Faris’s Palestinian heritage, this performance celebrates the Nay’s 5,000-year history in Middle Eastern culture while pushing the instrument into bold, unexplored territory through original composition and innovative performance techniques.
What is Jasad?
Jasad — Arabic for “body” — is a deeply physical, fully acoustic solo performance. Faris performs on the Nay while simultaneously playing:
A leg-mounted frame drum
Foot percussion
These elements are woven together live to create multi-layered rhythmic and melodic textures, evoking the feel of looping and electronic music — yet created entirely in the moment.
What to expect
With exceptional dexterity and expressive nuance, Faris blends:
Intricate, flowing Nay melodies
Dynamic, grounded percussion
Rhythmic cycles that build and evolve organically
The result is a mesmerising performance that bridges ancient tradition and contemporary experimentation, inviting listeners into a meditative yet rhythmically charged soundscape.
