Park Hill Tour - Walk the Streets in the SkyThis event began 04/04/26 and repeats every week on Saturday until 29/08/26
Park Hill has been a visible landmark on the Sheffield skyline for over 60 years. It is considered of international importance due to being the first built example of external access decks (known as Streets in the Sky) and was awarded Grade II* listing in 1998. There followed a regeneration scheme, the first phase being shortlisted for the Stirling prize for architecture in 2013, which continues today. It is also culturally prominent, having featured in film, tv, music, artworks and on stage.
Join a resident-led 90 minute tour to walk the Streets in the Sky. Your guide will take you through the history of Park Hill, exploring the inspirations behind its design as well as its architectural concepts and distinctive details. Along the way, you’ll hear about the people who played a part in its story and gain insight into what life here is like today. There will also be an opportunity to see inside a renovated flat. A spring or summer visit is the perfect time to see our gardens in bloom and to take in the spectacular views over the city and into the countryside beyond.

Family Concert: Izzy Gizmo – Sheffield Chamber Music FestivalA joyful introduction to live music for young imaginations
By popular request, Family Concert: Izzy Gizmo returns to Sheffield as part of the Sheffield Chamber Music Festival, presented by Music in the Round at the Crucible.
Specially designed for children aged 3–7, this delightful family concert brings to life the much-loved children’s story Izzy Gizmo, written by Pip Jones and illustrated by Sara Ogilvie.
What’s the story?
Izzy Gizmo is an inventive young problem-solver who loves building brilliant — and sometimes bonkers — machines. When she meets a crow who can’t fly, Izzy sets out to help, learning along the way that creativity, perseverance and teamwork matter more than getting everything right first time.
This heartwarming tale of curiosity and compassion is brought vividly to life through live music, narration and visuals, making it an engaging and accessible first concert experience.
Music, storytelling and playful sounds
Performed by Ensemble 360 with narration by Lucy Drever, the concert features original music by Paul Rissmann.
Young audiences will hear:
Strings, woodwind, horn and piano
Unusual sound effects using pots, pans, whistles and household objects
Songs, actions and moments to join in
The combination of live musicians, storytelling and projected illustrations makes this a lively, welcoming and imaginative concert for the whole family.

Crosscurrents: Gwilym Simcock & Friends – Sheffield Chamber Music FestivalJazz meets classical in a one-night-only festival highlight
A thrilling musical crossover takes centre stage at the Crucible as Gwilym Simcock, Claire Booth and Ensemble 360come together for Crosscurrents — one of the standout events of the Sheffield Chamber Music Festival.
Celebrated by The Guardian as a “jaw-droppingly exciting” pianist, Gwilym Simcock is renowned for his rare ability to move effortlessly between jazz and classical worlds. This special evening brings those musical currents together in an energetic, genre-defying collaboration.
A fresh take on classical favourites
At the heart of the programme is a bold, jazz-inflected reimagining of Claude Debussy’s Children’s Corner, arranged by Simcock himself. Known for breathing new life into classical repertoire, Gwilym’s award-winning adaptations reveal new rhythmic sparkle and harmonic colour in familiar music.
For this one-night-only performance, Gwilym and his band of outstanding jazz musicians are joined by world-class classical artists, creating a concert that is playful, virtuosic and full of surprise.
About the artists
Gwilym Simcock has toured internationally with leading figures in jazz including Kenny Wheeler, Dave Holland and Pat Metheny. His collaborations with the classical world include a celebrated late-night BBC Prom with Nigel Kennedy, performing a jazz-infused take on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
Joining him for Crosscurrents are soprano Claire Booth and Ensemble 360, bringing vocal colour, chamber precision and theatrical flair to the evening.
In partnership with Sheffield Jazz
This concert is presented in partnership with Sheffield Jazz, underlining the city’s rich jazz and classical music scene and its appetite for bold, boundary-crossing performances.
