  5. just seen you on look north, so sorry for the loss of your dog, i have two greyhounds who wouldnt hurt anything but they are always kept under control, its likely that the dog that killed was bred for hunting

I think the dog was a bull lurcher, I didn't find this out till last night so was too late to change.

I had never heard of them either so to me they looked exactly like a greyhound.

My wife and myself walked around wombwell woods last week and bumped into an old guy who had three greyhounds all on leads and muzzled.

We stood and spoke for a while and he did say although they are generally good natured and sociable dogs, he wouldn't trust them 100%.

I suppose there will be bad dogs in every breed, but this is down to how they are handled and treated by there owners.

An old school friend had a greyhound who was the most gentle, well tempered large dog I had ever met, he also had a dalmatian and a Chihuahua, the later of which was the pack leader.

  6. I walk the other side of Wombwell on a training walk with 15+ other dogs (the bridel paths and woods near the old heaps) . We often come across bull lurchers with young lads, luckily we have a scout out in front to warm other people and us that there are 15+ 30Kg+ dogs on the way and we get them all on leads.

It appears the young lads in the area seem to be very fond of the bull lurchers for hunting the last two I saw were a pair of very light brindle bull/ lurchers, they are very atheltic dogs and as tall as the GSD's and mastiffs I walk with.

I really hope you find the people responsible.

    Hi,

I have never heard of a bull lurcher until I saw your post so I googled it.

The dog that attacked looked exactly the same.

It was a dark and also a very light brindle bull lurcher who caused the death of Max

  7. This thread seems to have had 2 or 3 pages of posts deleted :o

It is a terrible thing that happened to your pooch jaydbow. I remember it happening to a cat of ours when i was younger and it was awful. I can only hope someone has the information needed to charge these idiots.

    Hi,

This is a new thread that I started because the original was posted in general discussions. There were one or two individuals who posted idiotic remarks that have since been removed, I think that maybe the one your thinking of?

I'm relatively new to the sheff forum and didn't realise this section was here until someone pointed it out to me.

    Jay

  8. If you want i can post that on my mates face book who lives at wombwell. His daughter works as pet walker sitter etc and has lots of contacts out there.Well its her face book page actualy lol.Let me know wont do so untill you give the word.

    Sorry to here that.

Yes please, any help whatsoever will be welcome.

Would you let me know the name on facebook so I can keep my eye on it.

    Many many thanks.

    Jay

  9. I am posting this thread in hope that someone will know who owns the dogs that savagely attacked and killed one of my toy poodles.

I have already posted the same thread on another part of the forum but arguments started!

This thread is meant purely for people who may have an idea of anyone concerned in the death of my beloved Max and not for anyone to raise unrelated comments or start arguments.

This happened Sat 17th sept in wombwell woods at around 2:30pm.

There were three young men (late 20s) walking, or probably hunting rabbits in the woods near wombwell lane with a pack of around 6-8 dogs, these included a large tan greyhound that must have some rib injuries from where I kicked repeatedly trying, in vain for it to let go of little Max who subsequently died three hours later.

I cannot give a good description of the men but will recognise them when I next see them. The best I can say is that they are all slim to medium build, around 5-10", and quite scruffy looking, two are cowards as they didnt help but all three ran off.

Please will anyone knowing them, or if one of them is reading this, get in touch so that steps can be taken as for this not to happen again

    Thanks.

  10. Dont apologise mate.

It can get confusing on here at times.

Best of British with finding these irrisponsable dog owners.

The police should really be activly seeking them out. Your dog could sadly be the 1st of many if something isnt done soon.

RIP to the little fella :(

Thank you, I'm going to contact the media tomorrow and try to get these scum bags banned from owning dogs.

I dread to think if any young children had been around at the time.

  11. Jay

I'm gutted for you. Our Molly showed me a picture last night of her sat with them. I can't tell her, she will be devastated. I'm so sorry for your loss pal. I know how much you loved him and how beautiful he was. What a shame you couldn't deal with the attacking dog properly. I hope you find out who's they were. I'm only a phone call away pal.

I need to find them Sean. If the other two lads had helped, thing might not have been as bad, the greyhound ran about thirty feet away from me and started shaking him like a rag doll, that's what eventually killed him, he had several broken ribs and punctured lungs.

I cant get it out of my head.

They have to live local and someone will know them.

They had local accents and didn't look like they could afford a car or van and I didn't see one either.

Other walkers were walking around a conservation area and as dogs that attacked were heading in that direction, had to have been seen.

I opened this thread in hope that someone will know them, how many people have 7-8 dogs and live near wombwell woods? Surely cant be many!

  12. oh my god i cannot even try and think how you are feeling,i recently lost my dogs age 13 and 14 yrs old through old age and a good life which was tragic enough for me but to lose your dog in such a way must be heartbreaking, these scroats dont realise how much we love our pets.

my thought are with you and your wife and i hope someone on sf will name and shamese scroats.

I lost Toby three years ago through old age, he was a toy poodle too.

That was devastating enough even though we knew it was going to happen, but to lose one this way just doesn't, I cant even find words.

    Devastated doesn't come close.

  14. Japanese make good guitars but they never hold a good price.

I bought a mint secondhand yamaha rgx for £170 a few years back. They cost £500+ when they were in fashion.

If your putting it on ebay, I would have a reserve for £140, if you get more than that, class it as a bonus!!
