  1. Just to let you all know, that I have got and recieved backpay from march 2009 and I recieved this on the 12th march and I actually recieved £3289 and now my weekley benefit has also gone up by £128 per week which has made a big difference. Hope you get what you ask for as you are entitled to it...

  2. Ok, bit of a long question but here goes,

31st march 2009 we got told that my 4 year old son has Autisum, got told to claim for DLA for him. So I put a claim in for DLA, I got a reply back around the 14th April 2009 saying he is entitled to high rate care allowance he is not entitled to the mobility part till he is 5 yrs old which would be June 2010, he has been awarded this untill june 2010. At about the same time I also got the re-newal form for the child tax credits where you have to give figures on how much you have been on that year. I thought I would phone up to give them the figures as at the same time I can tell them about the high rate care for son as it was backdated from the 31st march.

I told them everything, they said i will get a new award letter in the post. When the award letter arrived it stated that we are entitled to £94.82 per week. Which I was happy with.

Now nearly one year on, I have recieved the re-newal form for my sons DLA and filled it out and I have a reply, from his birthday in june he is entitled to the lower rate of mobility and the high rate care, this is for the next 3 years.

Someone said to me that am I getting the disabled element of the child tax credit, I said I dont know, I checked my award letter from last year and it has no mention on this. I looked it up on the internet and the element is £2670 per year, which works out at £51 per week.

So yesterday I phoned tax credits and told them about my sons DLA from June and also asked about this disabled element. Suprised to find out that I have not been recieving it. So What happens now??

I phoned them up this morning and asked, They need the information from DLA to say that my sons been getting DLA since 31st march 2009 and also to see if he is still getting it in June. So Has anyone else had this problem before as I am now wondering if they are going to back pay me from last march or not and if my weekly money will go up or down??

Can anyone help me out on this one?

  3. I am a full time at home mum of 2 children, One of the children in this case my son has Autisum and he recieves full care rate from DLA (he is not entitled to the mobility part as yet untill he reaches 5 yrs old) Therefore I do recieve carers allowance for the care of my son.

My hubbys full time sick and therefore on long term incapacity benifit, becasue of this i do recieve a top up of income support on top of my carers allowance of the grand total of £11.05 per week.

If I did start a part time or full time job, that income support would stop, and therefore have to pay rent and council tax, so i would really be worse off.

Thats the way life is really, but it gives me that time to spend with the children.

  4. Ok, bit of a strange thing going on at the moment, I am just not sure whats going on..

My last peroid was end of October, So now overdue and late for my next one..(9 days infact)

I have been poorly, and on painkillers and antibiotics due to the flu and a chest infection, so not sure if this illness is to blame??

Feel Bloated, not really hungry. Have sensitive Boobs! and no stomach pain and dont feel sick, but have the 'matallic' taste in my mouth (as you do in Pregnancy, But again not sure ifs its becasue am ill) been feeling more tired and falling asleep on the sofa.

Does this sound like i am pregnant??

  8. I did ring up Family Fund after a 50 minute wait on the phone, Basically they told me theres a big backlog of applications (well for new applications)

Just yesterday i did recieve a letter and i have been accepted for the grants.

I am very pleased with the outcome as for the amount just for the Haven holiday itself as they gave me enough money to book a holiday to great yarmouth at seashore haven for 1 week next june in a 'prestige' caravan (which is the best accomodation) and a 4 night break at blackpool haven at the start of november to see the lights as the kids will love that.

They gave me a grant for a trampoline and also a clothing allowance for my son.

There would be no chance of doing all this without family fund as i wouldnt of been able to afford it. Thanks to family fund i now can.

    Thanks for the tips all....:hihi:

  9. Just wanted to ask if anyone is with 'family fund' basically its for parents who have disabled children and you can apply for grants for things such as money towards a 'haven' holiday and to buy a trampoline for the child.

The reason why i am asking is because i found out my son has Autisum at the end of march, then someone told me about the family fund so i googled it and reserched it and applied, this was at easter weekend. They got my application but to this day i have not got the grant yet. on the 23rd July i got a letter from them asking for proof of ID like bank statment and proof of my sons DLA which i sent back, but its taking forever, when i phone them up i am on the phone around 40 mins before i can get to talk to someone.

I can understand they might be busy, but i thought that i could get a trampoline for my son for the summer, but i still havent got that grant thats if they gave me one!

Has anyone else had this problem or is it just me?

  13. it costs £10.000 for 1 day at airshow. all done by kind donations from the public. it's m.o.t ran out on the 3rd of july, they was promised the paper work would be ready for the airshow thats y it was there. its just 1 of them problems they have with the aviation guys, they have to be perfect, otherwise its not worth the risk of flying it

  14. Its my parents 30th wedding annaversary this yr, and i would like to give them a present they will love, I have an idea, I was thinking about them renewing there wedding vows, i have asked them they said they love too but with the 'credit crunch' they cant afford it as my dad is now disabled so they only on benefits. I am just wondering does it cost as much to renew the wedding vows then it is too get married, i mean if i do offer to pay for this, what is the cheapest possible route to get this done??

  15. Hiya, I just want to warn you all of a barn fire full of hay on the country road between 'tickhill' and 'maltby' (tickhill rd i think)on the 's bends' theres a barn fire, the road is not closed but theres cars stopping on the road to have a look at it.

I know its not a main part of sheffield but it just incase your off out tonight in that area.

Looks like theres a few fire engines there but only one is trying to dampen down the fire as its full of hay so they just might wait till its burnt out by itself, as i type this the police chopper is circleing round the woods behind my house looks like its looking for some one.
