  1. Thanks for your advice and even bigger thanks for the correction of my spelling!!!!! I read on this forum before about narrow minded people like some of you here, but now is time for me to experience your arrogant attitude.

You only wish to be able to speak any foreign language as other people do, English is my 4th language I speak and write. Yes I am studying Medicine at the University of Sheffield.

Finally I am not Spanish but proud wherever I come from.

  2. Did anyone make it to the King Edward VII car boot/fun day today?

I walked up the hill to Glossop Road, and it was deserted! Only on getting back, did I find there's another King Edward VII school in Crosspool.

Also, been wanting to check out Marsh Lane for the last couple of years, are there any recommended bus routes that head out that way at that time in the morning?

Love this thread btw... always bookmark the new one each year, and check it ruthlessly during the week :D

We did the same, walked up hill to find King Edwards School deserted with construction building going on, so annoying when you make such a long journey especially with a small child.

The person who advertised it should give clear information, which school it is, not to assume that everyone know that there are two king edwards schools.

Not happy at all, was thinking to complain to that phone number given for it.

  3. Went to nearly new sale babies clothes and equipment at st Thomas Church in Crookes. It is such an inappropriate place for mothers with small children, it kind of looses the effect of being sale for children.

There were so many stairs and narrow pathways to walk so impossible to get the push pram. Not child friendly accessible at all.

But I have to thank the sale helpers ladies who were so helpful, without their help we could have not been able to do it.

Babies could be carried in rucksack style contraptions like some parents do, or a moses basket.

    hey

are you the guy, that i run over your feet on the bus if you are asked politely to move slightly while i get out of the bus with the pushpram. When I read your post I laughed, I thought maybe that is where you got the influence to write....

Anyway good luck on your mission!

  5. Really? That seems very expensive.

In fairness, I've just been on the website of a company I worked for back when I was a student and it was about £1955 fully comp (I assume you've only recently passed) and about £1640 TPFT.

IF you've had your licence longer than a year or have some no claims (I wasn't sure from your OP whether you meant you had some no claims bonus or zero no claims bonus) then it will be cheaper.

If you're new then some policies will give discount for pass+. If not, some companies (ie. admiral) do a multi-car thing, which can work out cheaper if you share accommodation with someone else who has a car and doesn't mind changing - not entirely sure how this policy works for non-family though.

It's a lot for a fiesta. I did a quote with the same insurer on my details (roughly the same, but over ten years driving, employed etc) and it was still about 1055 TPFT but about 800 fully comp. This happens a lot with brokers, so you should look at both. It also turned out to be much the same no matter what car (within reason) I told it I owned.

    Hi

what is the company website you looked pls, on my post I meant zero no claim bonus. I am emplyed and just passed driving test. It will be the only car in the family. I am not sure why and what I am doing wrong getting this high price.

  6. Hi

Can anyone suggest a cheap car insurance. I am first time driver age over 30 yrs old with no claim bonus. I looked at different website like : go compare, money supermarket but it look like so expensive over £2000. My car is Ford Fiesta 1.2 reg 1996 so was hoping to be cheaper. Would appriciate any advice.

    Thanks

  8. "Students are a load of spoilt brats pretending to be intelligent. How many of them are studying for something the country needs. You go to hospital to be met by a doctor struggling to speak understandable English so most students dont intend studying medicine. Load of plonkers, getting ****** on cheap student loans"

What a lot of rubish, maybe you are jealous that you were not clever enough to do medicine. You better be nice to them, they may be your doctors one day!

I am halway through my medical training, and I don't get ........ on cheap student loan and surely my English is understandable to you!!!

  9. According to city council these are the criteria: have to be unemployed, on drugs, alcoholic, just come out of prison, suffered mental or physical abuse or preggy amongst other things to get a council property but if you are employed and pay taxes you will be at the bottom of their list.

"I've been on over 7 1/2 years, but I don't see it as a right that I should be given a Council property."

It is the same right for employed people as it is for all those described above.

  10. I have just had this stupid man three times using different time trying to scam me for a property that didn't even exist. The email is the same as many people above:

    "Hello,

You have to prove that you can afford the rent before you can View my

property.Viewing my Property is not a Problem but i will like you to do a

thing. I guess you will understand this. It's in the policy my Solicitors

has told me and i wish to abide by it. I won't get any money from you now.

So you will do a thing to make me believe you really need the Property.I

have been fooled several times and I had to travel a long journey with my

Solicitors to meet people who wants to view my property and at the end of

the day they tell me they want to stay in the property for a month before

they would pay me. I don't want this to happen to me again so My Solicitors

has advised me that I have to be sure that who so ever is renting my

property should be capable of paying the cost of the rent.

You will go to the nearest WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER around you,Send

to your Friend send the sum 1100pounds in western union. The money is still

within you. I am not ready to get money from you as i have said. All I need

to see is the western union money transfer copy of receipt giving to

you.Scan the western union receipt and send it as an attachment to my email

just for me to view it and be sure you are ready to get the Property. after

viewing the Property, and you really like it, You can go to the western

union location agent or bank around here to get the 1100 pounds back and we

can reach an agreement on how you will move into the property. I will refund

the Western Union charges back to you during the Viewing day. If you don't

understand, Here is an examples of how to do it....

    SENDERS NAME....................YOUR NAME

    RECEIVER' NAME...................YOUR FRIEND NAME.

    AMOUNT SENT.....................1100POUNDS.

and scan the copy of receipt to me in an email just for me to view it.and

then i can pick you up and show you the Property.

    Best Regards."

Be aware of this people, I contacted the police for advice but unfortunately they cannot do anything unless something happens!!!!!!

  11. I have just returned from viewing the house in Fife Street, it was certainly the same as described from many people above. Unfortunately the school was just in front with so many young people hanging around on the street, it just didn't feel safe.

Regarding travelling to tram stop at Meadowhall was a long walk approx 25 mins so thanks for all your advise but it may suit another family better.

  12. Many thanks to everyone for all your replies, I am waiting to view the house next week, the rent is £300 pcm, I was just worried about being safe and how close is Fife Street from Tram Stop, is Meadowhall tram stop the nearest one or is there another stop nearer?

    Thanks again
