About the Venue

Hillsborough Park is one of Sheffield’s largest and most versatile green spaces, located around three miles north-west of the city centre. Covering approximately 49 acres, the park is owned and managed by Sheffield City Council and is one of the city’s designated City Parks. With flat, accessible paths, expansive lawns and distinctive features such as its iconic row of poplar trees, the park is used year-round for recreation, community activity and major outdoor events.

Originally part of the Hillsborough Hall estate, the land was purchased for public use in 1890 and officially opened as a park in 1892. Over the decades it has hosted agricultural shows, fairs, concerts and festivals, and since 2018 it has been the main home of Tramlines Festival, welcoming tens of thousands of music fans each summer. The park also sits within the Hillsborough Park Conservation Area, which includes several listed buildings and historic boundary features.

Today, Hillsborough Park combines heritage with modern facilities. Highlights include a historic walled garden dating back to 1779 (a Yorkshire in Bloom Gold Award winner), a fishing lake, bowling and croquet greens, tennis and padel courts, children’s play areas, and a popular cycling pump track opened in 2022. The renovated Coach House café, Makers Shed creative hub and regular events programme make the park a lively community focal point, while its large open spaces continue to make it ideal for festivals, concerts and city-wide celebrations.
