ShefLUG - August MeetingThe next ShefLUG meeting is on the 2nd of August 2025. at… Morrisons – 299 The Common, Ecclesfield, Sheffield, S35 9AE 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. or 5 p.m. if you want to do that. The topic of the meeting will be a general discussion about GNU/Linux and BSD or we can fix some hardware or software. If you need some help with that kind of thing we can probably point you in the right direction. If you want to know more about anything please come along and ask questions. The most recent releases of Ubuntu, OpenSuSE and Fedora and Debian and Linux Mint and Arch Linux will probably be discussed. Just about any version of GNU/Linux or BSD is welcome. Most people who come along to our meetings have used most versions of GNU/Linux and the BSDs. Please come along if you need some help. Ask for the community room in the store.

Live music at Leopold Square: The Power Trio and Billie JaneThe Power Trio – Saturday 2nd August 2025 – 2pm to 4.30pm
Introducing The Power Trio, a dynamic neo-soul/jazz ensemble led by the multi-talented Ryan Taylor. Renowned for his keyboard prowess, soulful vocals and charismatic stage presence, Ryan channels the spirit of James Brown, Herbie Hancock, Cory Henry, Stevie Wonder, Jamiroquai and Prince as he masterfully orchestrates the band’s sonic journey. Joined by bass virtuoso Alex McGibbon, whose slap bass artistry pays homage to the golden era of the ’70s and ’80s. Tom Townsend completes the trio with an authenticity and versatility that sets the perfect foundation for floor-filling, festival rocking grooves.

Billie Jane performs music that grooves by the likes of Silk Sonic, Santana, Jill Scott and D’Angelo, as well as party jams from Whitney, Stevie and MJ. As one of Sheffield’s rising stars, Billie has incredible vocal range and power, and is accompanied by one of the tightest bands in the hemisphere.
