On Saturday 1st March 2025, Sheffield Orchid Society are holding their Orchid Show and Exotic Plant Fair from 10am until 4pm in St John's Church Hall, Abbeydale Road South, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S17 3LE. Six different orchid societies from the midlands and the North of England will be displaying the best of their grower’s plants. There will be displays of carnivorous plants and orchids that are suitable to grow on a typical Sheffield window. Spicesotic Plants, Wacks Wicked, Shady Characters and John Carr will be selling orchids, aroids, carnivorous plants, cacti and tillandsias throughout the day. It is possible to pre-order plants from them which they will bring to the show, saving on postage. The canteen will be offering snacks and hot/cold drinks and there's a tombola where you could win a new orchid. Throughout the day Sheffield Orchid Society members will be available to help offer advice and guidance about growing orchids. There is parking at the Church Hall, but if this is full it is possible to park on the road outside. The following buses run along Abbeydale Road South, Sheffield: Bus 97 and 98 runs from Arundel Gate or the Moor in the city centre to St. Johns Church. The church is just after Dore and Totely Rail Station. By Rail – The Sheffield to Manchester (The Hope Valley Line) stops at Dore and Totley station, which is less than a 5 minute walk to the church hall.

The topic of the meeting will be a general discussion about GNU/Linux and BSD or we can fix some hardware or software. If you need some help with that kind of thing we can probably point you in the right direction. If you want to know more about anything please come along and ask questions. The most recent releases of Ubuntu, OpenSuSE and Fedora and Debian and Linux Mint and Arch Linux will probably be discussed. Just about any version of GNU/Linux or BSD is welcome. Most people who come along to our meetings have used most versions of GNU/Linux and the BSDs. Please come along if you need some help. More information here....
