Hi Tony worked at Spears 1954 to 1986, i remember the 50,s &60,s, which i thought the best years. i remember you & Janet well, I worked in the heat treament (better known as hardening shop). all the names have been flooding back as i have read the replies.

The rolling mill manager was Walter Steele.One of the head rollers also worked as a barman at Idsworth Rd WMC at the weekends

 

MY DAD WAS FRED WALKER, yes he was head roller at spear and jackson's. It is lovely to know that somone remember's him, and he did work at idsworth road wmc club thankyou. look forward to any more messages. by for now. re; LEWIS WALKER.

A good friend of our used to work there till he was killed on his motorbike Gary elmer had a brother called danny

I know Sid. He retired a bout 5 years ago. He worked on the hot saw milling

and was a keen fisherman.

The last I heard he was in good health and still fishing.

By the way , the industrial saw side of Spear & Jackson is now known as Sheffield Industrial Saws and is located on Atlas Way in the Don Valley.
