Anyone work for Bradbury construction.

I worked for Bradbury around that time ,my boss was a man called Vic Spivey a gentleman in every respect.

 

Bradbury's used to do work at Whitbread's brewery (Ladys Bridge). Pete Spivey was the foreman for them then (70's).

Hi, I worked for Bradbury Construction as a painter, decorator and signwriter, I did my apprenticeship there, I started in 1961 and left in 1976.

Nevs second name was Dawson,worked with him many times, he was a good friend. Sadly lost touch with everyone after leaving as I moved away from the area.

Anyone remember Roy Mellors, painters shop foreman, Jack Shirt, main mechanic in the garage. I believe Archie Adams from the joiners shop is still with us, and I still see Dennis Crofts from time to time.

I also painted the white Transit and mk1 & 2 Escort vans with the Signwritten BRADBURY name in orange !

Hi Albert,  that was my granddad what lovely words, on the 16th of this month it will be seven years since we lost him, he got to 98 and still had all his faculties.... Daniel

Vic went on to be the Dangerous Structures officer at the Town Hall and I again had the honour to work along side him in this work.

The other bloke i remember from Bradbury,s was Charley Wild the lorry driver who Vic used to say was the most honest man he had ever had work for him,

Charley lived on Grouse St at Walkley.

That was my granddad, what a nice memory of him,  Daniel Spivey
