Hels Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Who was it that said 'live every day as if it is your last'? Laugh, smile, be polite, do a good deed whenever you can, look people in the eye when talking to them, really listen and give something of yourself, have no regrets.
angelgirluk Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 I couldn't agree more Hels! Alan, you're being brilliant about all this and sure it is hard, it is bound to be hard, but I guess if the worst is going to happen, at least you have been given this wonderful chance to explain things yourself to your daugther and your family as heartbreaking as it must feel for you... this is your chance now! I won't go on because somebody earlier thought I was being funny with you and that upset me a lot as I mean this in the most sincere way. I have been there with my dad, and it is still all very recent and new to me too, and ok I am that little bit older than your own daughter but that doesn't change how you feel to be told of the news. Make this time you have left so wonderful for her and yourself. It's the little things that matter and that you remember and take with you where ever you go in life! She'll always love you and remember you, so please don't worry about that. You sound very close and that makes all the difference!!! Like I said, email me if you would like to (By the way I received one from you this morning Alan, thanks, it was very nice of you). Angel
Martin_s Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Amazing what jumping out of a burning building can do for your outlook on life.. The apartment I was living in was firebombed, when I was out in Montreal a number of years ago... Without going into details it resulted in a seriously massive change in my approach to life and the way I tackle a lot of situations.. I guess the main thing is that I've seen each extra day as something of a bonus and if I get run down by a number 51 bus (and lord knows it's been close a few times ) I'm more or less ready... What I'd do with the time if I knew it was curtain time soon?.. well I do it every day anyway.. Always looking for ways to enjoy the time, try to see and recognise those great moments for what they are as they're happening.. share them with friends and keep on trucking. Best of luck Depoix and don't give up.
Yodameister Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Well said Martin. We all have something that is going to kill us in somewhere between 0 and 100 years, its called life. Its easy for most people just to pretend its never going to happen to them and so not make the most of the here and now.
smedley Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 If I was dying I would probably think "why the f*** did I spend so much time reading the crap on bulletin boards lately?"

igm1 Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 I think about what to put on my tombstone. hehe put in really small writing so that people have to look really close at it "you're standing on my balls" and plan what music to have at my funeral etc. etc. mostly if I knew I was dying I'd want to make the most of what time I had left.
smedley Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Originally posted by wibbles Or.."I wish I had contributed something interesting to the forum" ???? I was being honest. Less of the sarcasm, wibbles. I honestly can't understand why I read this rubbish sometimes. Of course, your well-informed posts are always good for a belly-laugh.
