Have you got PC problems? Just ask - no charge

Recommended Posts

I have a problem with my PC, when I want to download something I always switch the I/O switch at the back to I for in but when I want to upload something and switch the I/O switch to O for out the PC goes dead. I have done a spyware scan, all that told me is that the porn sites I have visited keep dumping stuff on my computer. I did a virus scan and that said I have Anna Kournikova on my machine ( must be from a porn site ), I pressed a few things on the firewall thingy but the problem is still there. I have no problems whilst the switch is set to I, its just when I set it to O. Can someone please help me?

That's your internet pump that is. The internet is just a series of tubes, if you turn the pump off you can't suck down teh megabits.

If Mossy ever comes back I'll scare him with the sendmail installation that can't sent any mail for any further than 500 miles.

'I think I've found the link - when Outlook is running, I can receive my email fine. However when it's closed, email stops coming in.'

I'm sure computers must emit some kind of radiation that messes with people's heads. I have seen the most sensible people come out with the stupidest things when you put them in front of a computer. They seem to turn off common sense.

My PC has a mind of its own ? and re-boots whenever it bloody well likes ! I get a message saying a 'serious error has occured' and 'do you want to send error report ?' No I dont ! I want to kick the thing till it squeals !

Any suggestions other than ' Yes , kick the bloody thing '?

Is it a hardware prob. and does it need a doctor ?

Does the error occur when you do a certain thing? Is there a pattern? Do you have the error code?

Ask Mossy?

Oh... here we are again... What are you doing when it crashes? Any more information in the error message? Is there anything in the Event Log?

EDIT: Mod Man types quicker than me!

Will let you know error code next time it re-boots (which is likely to be soon) There is no pattern. It even re-boots sometimes while its already re-booting (if you follow)

Can be doing almost anything, or even just sat watching !Event log shows Application errors source 'Perfnet' and 'MsiInstaller' and 'COM+'

System errors show sources 'DCOM' and'Service Control Manager'

There are pages and pages of error code info.

I think its having a complete nervous breakdown !
