cdtiman   10 #87 Posted January 21, 2008 Does anyone remember the outdoor pursuits centre ?, Brownhead Farm near Pickering on the North Yorkshire moors. Think we had a few sponsered swims to raise money for it. Went a couple of times, no proper toilets, only an old style porto loo, remember we had to take it in turns to empty it, dig a hole in the ground and empty its contents into it. Think the school has since sold this farm, does anyone know?  only went once that was enough
 Share this content via...

Shakespeare   10 #93 Posted January 22, 2008 The science classes were great. They had lots of big microscopes brillant. Paul Hodgkiss or Mason was a bit mucky. So the biology teacher got him to put his hand in some agar in a dish. Then she checked around to see who had the cleanest (Me!) and I did the same. Sealed the lids and a week later about Paul's was full of gung and mine had 1 tiny spot! I loved the fillms they used to show aswell on the Bell & Howell 16mm projecters. There was one about water, looked like it was made by Disney. It had two cartoon atoms in the same style as 'Mr DNA' in Jurassic Park. They sang a song: 'If you take two atoms of Hydrogen and one atom of Oxygen, what do you get? Terriably wet!' And then there was Mr Turton's pride and Joy the latest video recorder and big colour TV. The video was huge! It even had a timer like on an electric cooker! Philips I think it was.
 Share this content via...

escort1 Â Â 10 #95 Posted January 22, 2008 L.P., long playing record! The record player was a brown wooden box containing a turntable and a small speaker in the lid. No stereo or surround sound in those days, the cassette had just come out and the C.D. was still a long way off.
 Share this content via...
