John was not a well man for many years and not the same person we remember

He died a week to the day after my dad and never got to see his granddaughter which his daughter Rebecca had

I saw him many times in the last few years and we had great laughs about the old times

He never lost his sense of humour even through all his illness

Depending on who you are your real names may even been included in our reminiscences

Thanks for your comments

I left in July 1970 night nurse and guess as you were in johns year you won't even know me as I was two years older than John and Lynne guess you knew carol burns too

My name is Russ Duffy

But that I think will mean nothing to you

I am glad I heard from you

Starting to feel all from that era were not looking at the site

Spent much time with John in later years

Lynn hunt and Tina both live in Spain and we're friends of us both

I will have known you by sight but names never my strong point

Some of stuff on this sight news to me but guess I just took bullying from teachers as par for course

Despite all that I think it was a good school

Do you still live in sheffield area

I've just come back after a long time away

Thanks for contact

It's great to hear from someone

Many people used to float in and out of our music evenings at johns house every night

Music was normally pretty heavy stuff from pink floyd king crimson deep purple moody blues yes etc ha ha good times I think

---------- Post added 01-02-2016 at 23:18 ----------

I remember at school that was the description people would give of the tb jab needle

Scary ha ha

Massive needle with big hooked end

Hope to hear more of your memories nice nurse

Would assume you may just be pulling my leg when you said you were quiet and then followed it up with a laugh

But I don't know

I got into a few scrapes but not as many as some

In 1968 or 1969 waltheof won the all sheffield road safety quiz

Quite an achievement as we beat all the top grammer schools to do it

Mr Cooper and Pop were over the moon

I think it was first time it had been staged too

We got a massive trophy

Does anyone remember that

Hey Judith, Steve, Darnex et al, I was saddened to learn of John-taken away so early. I can visualise him with his mop of mousy hair, such a sweet kid.

I left school in 72. Richard Kirk, Tony Staniland, Tom, Gary, Lynne Cowley played badminton for the school. I also remember Peter B, Dave Waller. Dave came to school one day with a skinhead-he was missing a lollipop but he still got all the girls lol

Hey Steve, I'm not sure if you received my personal email but if for some reason you haven't, Darnex has my contact details so do get in touch. Probably won't recognise each other!!!
