lazyherbert
A lady, who I did not know, & I watched this old lady on Gleadless Rd. outside the Indian Restaurant at Gleadless Townend trying to park her car. Firstly she pulled up on the yellow lines beside the bus stop. She then reversed into the car behind her pulled forward & then got out with the car still on the double yellow lines about 3 foot from the kerb & still at the bus stop. I know cars are the only way for some people to get about but I shudder to think what she would be like on a busy motorway.

Paolo Coopio
Not related and not having a go at the older generation of drivers (who are probably more careful that most), but a few years ago someone ran into the back of my brother at traffic lights. It turned out to be a 75 year old man who aplogised saying he was on his way to the hospital for a catarac operation.

They did not have it in the test years ago. Indeed they did not have a tes at one point.

""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" Oh so if she has trouble parking then it is O.K. for her to park illegaly.I think all people should have a new test every five years. Not as rigourous as the first test but, just to make sure that they are still competent enough to be on the roads. I am sure I didn't actually say say it was alright for her to park illegally. Just said that she was probably never taught to parallel park properly. It is the law that is at fault not the person who is unable to drive properly for allowing the situation. As you state maybe they should have people being retested every so often but people are often made to take another test when they are seen to do things like this. However, they have to be seen doing it by someone who can actually do something about it or can be bothered to do something. Did you do anything? I hate bad driving and the thing I dislike most of all is people who cannot park properly.

No because she did no damage to the other car & I am not one for reporting people to the authorities unless it was something very serious.
BlackVelvet
I was at the sharp end of an old dears driving yesterday. I was joining the M61, on a roundabout which has a slipway off the roundabout with no 'give way' at the top. went round the corner, to be confronted by an older looking female, in a Rav4 REVERSING up the slipway. she did see us behind her on this single lane slipway and stopped. After 30 secs of what seemed to be sheer confusion, she did a U TURN! anround the end of the concrete barrier, and drove the wrong way up the standard sliproad, serving the rest of the roundabout. I emitted a loud JEEEESUS!, before continuing on my way. what was so hard about continuing on the motorway to the next exit to turn round? , thus avoiding endangering anyone. Clearly one who most definately should NOT still be on the roads.
Darbees
That is just further proof that old folk need re testing every now and then instead of just having to reapply for their license. The only reason they have to reapply for their license at present is to prove that they aren't dead which may happen sooner and more violently than they expect if they aren't careful.
