Is it ok to drive on tram lines in the rain, or will the car slip?

my car slipped a little out of control today (not sure if it was 100% because of the rain), so has it happend to anyone else?

I am so amazed that trolls can get driving licenses nowadays!

It isn't a rare occurrence. A friend of mine had his car written off when he lost control on tram tracks. It is not safe to drive with both tyres on the tracks, even when it is not raining.

It is to do with the coefficient of friction between rubber and metal... add water into the equation and it's even worse.

The Police also lost control of a Police Land Rover on Holme Lane a few years ago, and careered in to the games shop that was on the corner of Holme Close, taking out half the wall.

You can feel a bit of give when on the wheel as you drive over the tracks and that's when they are just dry so I could imagine them being somewhat hazardous when wet.

Have you ever noticed people either drive of one side or another? I know this sounds daft, but what I mean is, is there a right or wrong?.

Should you drive to the right of the tracks or the left? Personally I drive on the right. (and I'm always right*):suspect:

*correct.

There are signs advising people that the tracks are slippery when wet. The safest way is to straddle the lines and take care when moving across them, as already said here.

Snap; I straddle the right-hand track too. It gives the best view of the road ahead and I feel more comfortable than I do straddling the left-hand side of the track.

Phew!! Glad my post didn't look too stupid:hihi: (and my reasoning is the same as yours btw, I feel too close to the kerb on the left, yet lots do it)
