Darbees Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Aquaplaning is far more likely at speeds over 60mph. If you don't feel it in the steering you can often feel it through the throttle as it can spin a wheel which is floating on the water. For that reason it would be unwise to use cruise control in conditions such as those today as your car would just plough onwards regardless. If all 4 wheels aquaplane at once you are effectively out of control until you get some grip back, you mustn't make any steering action as the wheel may suddenly grip again and throw the car in the wrong direction. A session on a skid pan will show anyone what happens and what to do as well as other actions to take if the car isn't doing what you expect it to do. Aquaplaning is not skidding though.
Magilla Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 All my tyres have a lot of tread left on them, theyre barely worn at all... It happened on a 60mph road, a little country backroute... It wasnt nice! It only happens if you're driving far too fast for the prevailing conditions.
