Can anyone help me think of some good dog walks for dogs who don't like the rain?

It's only just started raining this afternoon, and we're forecast for more of it for the rest of the week.

This afternoon I led a walk with a group of pooches who had their very best 'OK, I've been to the loo, I'm getting wet, can we go now?' faces on- and it was only wet for half the walk.

Can anyone recommend anywhere interesting enough that they won't mind getting wet?

We normally go to Loxley Common, Rivelin valley, Loxley valley bottom, Lodge Moor woods, the access land outside Ringinglow, the Limb valley or any random footpath I feel like trying for a bit of variety.

BTW- they love going in the river and will splosh about all day given half the chance. It's just when it falls on them that they hate it.

Oh we've got a dobermutt that does that- hates the rain but loves a dip! I suppose anyway mainly under trees would be good as it provides some cover against the elements. We're lucky we have lots of parks and woodland around us at S11.

Well, today we went down in a sheltered bit of the Rivelin Valley, but it was obvious that they hated every minute of it. They didn't even want to come off their leads for a run round. All they did was mope alongside me with their ears round the backs of their necks.

Ho hum- bring on the sunshine.

I know I sound like a stuck record but... Graves Park!

Its got lots of woods and a stream.

Gadget doesn't really like the rain either, but chasing around the scents of squirrels and rabbits around there seems to distract him

Get em a coat and a hat.......mine have them

Hahahahahahaha! Bailey and Petie don't mind getting soggy in the least- as long as they have a warm towel and heated seat to retreat to when they get all shivery.

But this isn't Bailey and Petie, and I REALLY wouldn't want to lose fingers trying to fasten Taz into a coat and hat. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than try that- thanks all the same.

I know that Graves Park is a lovely place- it's just so far from Hillsborough when they're all excited about their walk and are barely restraining themselves from bursting into full song in the car.

Maybe we'll try Wharncliffe Woods tomorrow and see if they enjoy that any more.

I think with the combined effect of *rain* plus *coat & hat combo*, Gadget would DEFINITELY refuse to leave the house! :hihi:

Yep- I'd be dragging them round. Some dogs do cute- others would kill you for trying to make them.
