Car parking fine in pub car park

Recommended Posts

can anyone give me any advice i recently went to the hospital for results of a scan i had it was at 10.30am i parked in a pub car park near by the hospital.i was meeting my girlfriend after the scan and having a meal in the pub where i had parked my car which opened at 11am.when i got back to the car i had got a parking fine for £60 so could then not have my meal.

i was just wondering if it is possible for the pub to give me this fine and what could they do if i do not pay?

i am just angry has i have been to the pub for meals quite a few times before.

i did not see any signs there saying you cant park there either :help:

The ticket should tell you who has issued it and why. There should be contact numbers on there for questions. As far as I'm aware the Council cannot ticket on private land so if it is from them you need to be challenging it...

wasn,t the Aunt Sally pub was it?. they get a lot of RHH visitors/staff parking in there and are tough on them. shame you didnt have your meal (why didnt you?, was it the principle of the thing?) as then you could have produced your recipit and proved valid parking and that you were not using them as an unofficial hospital parking space.

Thanks for reply.the ticket was not issued by the council.i got the ticket a couple of weeks ago and have not paid it as yet and have nothing from anyone demanding money i am wondering if it can spiral out of control till the fine mounts up or if they just try it on to see if you pay

why should it?

the vehicle was parked on private land...you play by someone else's rules i'm afraid.

if there wasn't a sign indicating what the rules are, why did you assume you could park there? you wouldn't just park on someone's driveway would you?

sorry to be blunt, but it's easy to blame someone else when you were in the wrong. at the end of the day, how did the pub know the driver was going to be coming in for lunch?

Suggest you phone number on parking ticket to sort it out. Failing that try phoning the pub, ask to speak to the manager and explain what happened, including the fact that you were a customer to be. They may as a gesture of goodwill drop the fine. On the other hand you weren't meant to be parked there, so if there was suitable 'customer only parking' signage then it's a fair cop and you will have to pay it if they insist.

Strictly speaking it's not a "fine".Private organizations cannot fine people.

It is a charge for parking on private land.

Good luck in your attempts to avoid coughing up.Most of these clampers

are cowboys who ought to be regulated more strictly.

If it wasn't clearly indicated that you were parking improperly then let them

take you to court.
