PHIL76 Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 defiantely go with the outdoor specialist,me n mates put too about4years ago for one about £100 its a 4 manner ie 2 in each side pods but there is big centre piece where could sleep another 2or3 and thats seen action(not in that way before you start although i wish it had)with leeds festivals, bugjam every year and been sound apart from smell from puttin it away in rush when raining sometimes, but got us through tsunami kind of storm last year
TeaFan Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 If you anticipate being compus mentis enough to care about any aspect of your tent, or even where you left it, you shouldn't be going to Glastonbury, young person! They grow up too fast these days
DaFoot Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 TBH I would simply pop into a camping shop in town and buy the first one that looks of suitable size/shape. There are a lot of things to look for in a tent, but I wouldn't want to risk a decent one at somewhere like a festival.
HotPhil Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 I took one of these to Leeds Weekend last year for just the two of us http://www.towsure.com/product/12892-Coleman_Trailblazer_5_Person_Tent It has a large 'porch' area which is great to sit in if it's either raining or you need the shade (equally important!). You can also keep muddy shoes, stove etc in there and distinctly separate from your "inside" area. It's also tall enough to stand in (just). Took me and the missus 10 minutes to erect (we had practiced) and it's previously withstood very strong winds and rain in the peaks. My top tip would be to remember to take extra tent pegs and a mallet with any tent.
holidayhutch Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 We bought a lovely 3 person tent last weekend from Mitchells, has a porch and can stand up in it too, colour coded poles to make it easier to put up for a beginer too £49
depoix Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 i was in tow sure holme lane hillsbrough yesterday, they have some very good bargains on tents and stoves and equipment
purple_frog Posted June 13, 2007 Author Posted June 13, 2007 ah lads, all the good advice! ta very mooch! that 5man tent looks wicked, im loving the huge porchy thingy ... i may just have to waddle up to tow sure this weekend (-:
Pipine Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 I just got a Quechua 2 sec XL (the pop up tent with the porch) from Decathlon for this years glasto and its ace. I had the smaller version in 2005 and it survived the Glasto thunderstorm perfectly... not one drip inside I would definitely recommend them. This is my 9th Glastonbury my tickets have just arrived and I'm getting very excited! Fingers crossed for the sunshine!
HotPhil Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 It's definitely worth a trip to towsure or ccc or decathlon to have a look at them all. I think all 3 stores have most models ready-erected for you to take a look at.
