purple_frog
I'm off to Glastonbury next week (wooohooooo!!!) with a few friends, and our plan to borrow a tent has just fallen through, so I'm going to have to buy one - it's about time I bought my own, I suppose! Does anyone know any decent 3-personish tents? I think ideally I want a porch (just to sit in and remove wellies etc) but beyond that I'm not too fussy. I've looked at some camping websites, but would value hearing good/bad tent reviews from people who've actually USED the tent rather than just picking one on colour, which is what I am liable to do! Also, for ease of assembly, we were considering one of those pop-up tents, but I'm a bit more dubious than me friends, so was wondering has anyone any experience with them?! steadiman
You mean these? I used one last year and they are brilliant but unfotunately no "porch" unless you go for the larger model
evildrneil
For a few days you could probably get away with nearly any tent! Take a look in your local supermarket or somewhere like ALDI and you may be able to pick up a tent that's so cheap it's disposable. I've had tents from supermarkets that cost around the £10 mark and are perfectly servicable!

I've images of them being swept away in a gust of wind (or given Glasto's reputation, a torrent of muckwater)! Do they feel as stable as a normal tent? I know, I'm sorta thinking that, but on the other hand, I currently use tents a few times a year, and was thinking that maybe it might not be such a bad idea to finally buy my own decent one ... Smithster
I know, I'm sorta thinking that, but on the other hand, I currently use tents a few times a year, and was thinking that maybe it might not be such a bad idea to finally buy my own decent one ... If you want to get a good quality one then go to a proper outdoor equipment retailer rather than Aldis or somewhere like that. Although, I believe the cheapo ones they do in Halfords are not at all bad so might be worth a look. The biggest thing you need to look out for is whether or not the tent has taped seams. Cheaper ones will likely not and will probably leak in heavy rain, whereas a tent with taped seams will not. BTW - all of this is based on when I used to work for Millets about 10 years ago. The tent market may have changed dramatically since then for all I know.
SaxonLeigh
my dad got his from CCC just off bramall lane. they have some good deals on so you might just fall lucky. they have a website too, go out doors i think the address is. also argos had a good deal on, a 4 man tent with sleeping bags, air bed for £100 i think. you want a tent that has a hydrostic head of 2000mm or more, especially if we get weather like we did in 2005, i was soo glad for the good tent that year. hope you have a good time & maybe see you there.
