MARY POPPINS
Is it me, or are this years bedding plants not looking the best Mine dont seem to be growing, or maybe I planted them early this year with the weather being so nice. But they seem to be just sat in the soil same as when I planted them.
Mathom
Is it me, or are this years bedding plants not looking the best Mine dont seem to be growing, or maybe I planted them early this year with the weather being so nice. But they seem to be just sat in the soil same as when I planted them. You want to whack some Miracle Grow on 'em For baskets, three of those 'seed' fertiliser thingies per basket. Mine have grown like mad but have struggled to come into flower so far - though we finally have signs of buds forming now its getting sunnier. Now I had some pansies and Violas planted early on and they were a b*gger to get growing - same with some Busy Lizzies I planted early. Petunias and Lobelias are growing like mental though. New Geraniums are a bit slow this year but the old ones I overwintered were flowering in March!

Jabberwocky
I stuck some busy lizzies in the other day and theyve all snuffed it. I love Busy lizzies too so Im very disappointed.

Jabberwocky
I watered them and we had all that rain. I even put feed on the soil weeks before I planted them. I bet that damn cat sprayed them!
Hayley1
what did the leaves look like before they dried up?
Yellowrose
I ve had some dissapointing results this year too, but my favourites: fuchsias and pelargoniums are doing well. My begonias can be described as slow, ditto lobelia.
torin8
Planting early is never good for bedding plants - they always say wait for June no matter what the garden centres say (and have decked out their displays with them). Before June there is always the chance of frost and the un-even temperatures between night and day never do the plants any good. Best thing to do is get out there this weekend make sure they are watered (and give em a feed) and mulch around them if they are big enough. 'Never cast a clout until May is out' works for me
