purdyamos Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 The best one is the money down the drain one ... OUR money. Londoners' money.
purdyamos Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I read today the inspiration came from here I think we found a suspect of our own... (click on link)
Jeerumba Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Not just Londoners' money unfortunately - have you read about the redirection of loads of Lottery funding? Lots of charities that rely on that money are now finding that it's either not there, or that they have to try much harder to get much less...

It's when funds come out of tax that people are obliged to pay (especially when other services their tax pays for are overstretched or shoddy) that it becomes a big issue for people. I think the Olympics is an appropriate use of lottery money, but not if it starves projects nationwide, which it looks like doing.

Lots of charities that rely on that money are now finding that it's either not there, or that they have to try much harder to get much less... There was a petition a while ago re just this - diverting lottery funds away from other projects. Plus, there will be 'Govt money' going into this - and whether you live in London or not, it is all our money. In fact by us all signing the petition to change the logo, we're all costing ourselves more money for someone to read the petition and do ...... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ... like with the road charging. Aaaah, Democracy. Who could live outside one.
Jeerumba Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Fair point Purdyamos. The whole thing really lacks whatever used to pass for Olympic spirit though doesn't it?? Maybe that's why the logo is so uninspired...

It has also had an impact already on a Sheffield community project - Art In The Park - whose immediate existence has been placed in serious jeopardy by the restriction of funds placed on the Arts Council because of the Olympics
