We're members of Virgin Active Gym, and they do individual swimming tuition, presumably aimed at whatever level. It's an excellent gym so worth finding out.

I found this thread on Sheffield Sports and Activities section. They also do adult lessons at Heeley Baths behind the picture house on Abbeydale Road. I think they are two or three times a week.

I can't imagine any beginners class would have too many people in it, or at least you'd all be in the same boat (as it were) so you'd quickly get over any self-consciousness.

I have tried lots of time to learn to swim and failed everytime.

There is a place in Chesterfield called "Swim School" which I am going to try.

They do 0ne to one lessons there, and I am going to give them a try.
