Lucyloo
I put a lightener hair dye on lastnight, it was a 'boots' own and i had darkish brown hair and it showed on the back it would go a lighter brown, anyway it turned out to be a disaster and it has bleached my hair completley and now its blonde in some parts and ginger in others and i was so embarrassed to go to work today, but turns out people dont think its that bad and said it suits me! I have booked to have it dyed back to brown on thursday at the hairdressers but now am pondering on wether to have it back to brown? I did originally want it blondish and wondered wether putting a blonde dye over the top would make it lighter???? I need some advice??? schizodoor
Was the 'lightener' a bleach or a permanent colour? If it was bleach you can risk putting a dye on it to even out the tone, but be very careful, you're likely to damage the hair, if you choose this course get a REALLY good conditioner and treat it after for half hour or so under a placcy bag and towel. If the lightener was a permanent colour you can only darken the colour NOT lighten it and again do a really good conditioning treatment after. If you can afford to go to the hairdressers instead do that as they can test your hair strength and keep it in reasonable condition. Feel free to PM me for more advice Link to comment https://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/topic/85301-advice-on-hair/#findComment-1471203 Share on other sites
Lucyloo
Wel it was a permanent lightener but it said it was ideal for a base to then put a light dye ont top? Its in good condition and isnt straw like or breaking off, the hairdresser said i could go back to a brown but it would be lighter than before, but id id want to go blonde and i feel like am giving up now haha! Sounds like bleach. You can put any colour on top of it. If you've gone this far go a nice shade of blonde or light brown, get the haidresser to advise you what shade and look through a few magazines to see if you can see a shade you like. Go for it, I was blonde until recently, its a great look and you do get away with more naughtyness Link to comment https://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/topic/85301-advice-on-hair/#findComment-1471237 Share on other sites
Lucyloo
Thanks for the advice, I'd just said to the hairdresser that i wanted to go bk to brown so maybe i can chat with her when i go and see if i could go lighter, I've just been reading on some websites of disaster stories of hair going orange after a pre-lightener and then just putting an ash blonde dye on top?? It would be nice to think i could go blondish and not ginger!!! Absolutely right, ash is what's required but if its patchy ginger/blonde it needs applying in the right places, no prob for the hairdresser she's most likely done it loads of times before With a bit of time and effort you'll get a lovely result. Good luck and let me know how it goes Link to comment https://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/topic/85301-advice-on-hair/#findComment-1471275 Share on other sites
