mifsit Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 The cost of a weeks stay with us (to close friends and relatives) is a bottle of Sheffield's finest
waldershelf Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Well Well, the usual suspects trot out in defence of Hendersons....I do in fact have some in my cupboard, just to test that I am in fact correct in my assertion that it is inferior to L&P.... Indeed, L&P is National and therefore more 'popular' for one very good reason, it is clearly a class above. As for Hendos becoming a national icon..."You Can't Handle National!" And so it remains a meer sideshow protected by the hills of Sheffield. Whilst we on the 'outside' smile sympathetically at those who foolishly follow the cult of Hendersons. PS...If Cunninghams Piccallili does not start shaping up, (too runny lately) it will join Hendos in the bin. Wheres the inquisition when you need them? They would put a stop to these heretical rantings.
rubydazzler Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I have an idea that Cunningham's was taken over and is now made in Liverpool or somewhere equally not local - it never been the same since. The old Cunningham's factory on Queens Road is now flats
The Monz Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I think we shold all encourage outsiders to use L&P - that way there will be lots of henderson's left for us.
Kimpton Posted June 5, 2007 Author Posted June 5, 2007 Lea and Perrins indeed. I don't know what the worlds coming to, damned incomers bringing in their foreign ways and then having the barefaced cheek to come on our forum and disrespect Sheffields nectar. Its just heresy and should be dealt with in the traditional fashion......... all aboard the lynch mob charabanc to Derby We (well me) will meet your challenge head on, I will lie in wait at Alfreton...suitably armed with Worcestershires finest delicacy
Albatross Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 And the Lord said to the people of worcestershire make me a sauce and lo and behold they made Lea & Perrins. And he sayeth unto them "What's this insipid draincleaner? 'Worcester sauce' they said. "I wouldn't use this to clean my gates. I'm off back to Sheffield" he said . "Where the angels make my puddings and pies " And there it was that in Leavygreave Rd he did endow us with his nectar and sayeth "It shall henceforth be called Hendersons Relish and sold only to the righteous people of this fair city."
Blacksheep Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Kimpton - Stay in Derbyshire with your L&P where your sort belong. Hendersons isn't for turn coat Yorkshiremen, its ours all ours and we don't care that you don't like it. Up the Hendo's.
Deepcarowl Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 We (well me) will meet your challenge head on, I will lie in wait at Alfreton...suitably armed with Worcestershires finest delicacy You seem a bit outnumbered mate.....
swordfish1 Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Kimpton, I live in Sheffield and agree with you mate. Hendersons is ***** (letters h, i , s, t, e in another order omitted!) L&P for me anyday. Rather have tabasco in everything if I'm being honest tho!
