BLADE8T1 Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 Yeah baby! Cited as an example - Woohoo! I am horrificly common but know how to conduct myself and my affairs, what I object to is those who have no standards and inflict their lack of breeding on others. This includes commoners, the anti social and even disgraced peers of the realm who solicit whores, lie under oath and then get banged up. I'm sure when Archer's escapades came to light that one of his neighbours commented "God, The neighbourhood's gone to pot now we've got a perjuring scrubber afficianado down the road." In reality, class is a redundant classification, behaviour is the key to measuring a man's worth. you know how to conduct yourself and your affairs?? so you fully understood that you could be coming across as a little bit offensive? What really irritates is the fact that you are trying to deal with an infestation in your area(your area used as a loose term by the way) you mention you have payed for your house with hard earned money, but you forgot to mention that you also bought the road just up from you too! do you really think you are a better person than them? oh and btw, I think you have put your worth across very well!!
Cyclone Posted June 3, 2007 Author Posted June 3, 2007 In reality, class is a redundant classification, behaviour is the key to measuring a man's worth. So if this is the case, then the reverse snobbery becomes aimed not at class, but at behaviour. With those of little social grace and manners actually looking down on those who do have manners and know how to conduct themself in public. As an example, I saw a friend of my neighbours throw a cigarette but onto the pavement just as she walked out from my neighbours yard. Sheer laziness as a bin was no more than 3 metres away, and also disgusting behaviour. I didn't do anything as I have no desire to fall out with my neighbour, but if I had I'd have probably just gotten a mouthful of abuse in return.
donuticus Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 I can't remember who said it but I think its rather apt. "Britain today is a country with two distinct social classes, the civililised and the un-civilised"

God I wish there was a way to pull people up on that one without the agro! I live just off South Road and on the way to work the other day a young lady came out of the Newsagents with her pack of coffin nails and proceeded to whip off the plastic wrapper and drop it casually on the ground. You can imagine that minutes later it'd be followed by the paper inside, then the ciggies as she smokes them and then the box just tossed aside. I'd have said something if I wasn't at all bothered about a load of hurled abuse.

Swan_Vesta Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I think you have put your worth across very well!! Thank you BLADE8T1, I try to be eloquent on occasion. I think Doniticus has it nailed with his/her quotation. Cyclone, even as a smoker I agree with you on that one. Hardly considerate at all. My beef is that it's not essentially a class thing but prevalent amongst a certain type of people, I agree that not all crows under heaven are black but in my experience the majority are. Just an observation.
