Your best bet may be to try and hold out until you have been in it long enough. There are not many houses on the market for under 50k and thoughs that are, well, they wont be worth looking at. Blackcherry
Try the auction houses. Mark jenkinson have got an auction every month and there's a house with guide price 45K at the moment at Tinsley, but you need to put a 10% depost on the day if you buy anything at acution. Also caveat emptor - buyer beware. Anything under 50K is that price for a reason http://www.markjenkinson.co.uk/ Good luck with your search. Phylis
my work has some shared ownership for sale- http://www.ncha.co.uk Northern Counties, they are very good. I cant really see the point in these shared ownership schemes. You still have to pay rent on the remaining share. Is this not as expensive as having a bigger mortgage and owning the lot? vicki85
I don't 100% understand it either, but I think for a lot of people its about being able to GET the mortgage. With only havingna mortgage on 1/2 it would be easier
Phylis
If they can afford the rent on the other half then surely they can afford a mortgage on the other half!
vicki85
Afford, maybe, be given by the bank, different story, particularly for people who are unemployed etc. or who are 'high risk' so will onyl be loaned small amounts
