angeldom
Hi everyone. Hope i'm putting this in the right place, anyhow...... I hired this firm last year and they were brilliant and efficient. Rang for a quote a few weeks ago and when the guy (Darryl)came out he said he had taken over from his brother in law (John) now and that it is now his business, gave me the quote (which was more than they used to charge before but i trusted the name of the firm) we arranged for the work to be carried out Tuesday 29th May and that they would come and prepare some of the walls the night before. I rang him on the Sunday to makesure they were still coming as i was planning to strip the walls that night, he then advised that they could no longer come as they had been put back on another job due to weather. I was slightly miffed as he had not let me know and wondered if he would have, anyway we rearranged for Thurs the same week as he knows i need it doing before this coming Monday (4th June). They were meant to turn up tonight to prepare the walls - i had in the meantime stripped them ready, i rang him at 8.45pm to see what was happening and he simpley said that he had left a message on my mobile today and as i hadnt replied he went and booked another job in so they are not coming. I was gobsmacked let alone fuming i said to him that i didnt realise i had a voicemail message and that he knew full well i was going ahead as i had chased him up this week already. I do understand that some people do cancel on him, but i have never done that, plus i had also offered to part pay him in advance, thank god i didnt. He knows he's messed things up for me as my renovations start on Monday and the plastering needed to be dry intime. I just wanted to warn you all not to book this firm, It is such a shame as it was a great set of lads who worked hard and were reliable before, maybe they do work hard, but they seem to be charging more and they are no way reliable. TeaFan
Thanks for letting us know. It would be interesting if Ace Plastering could post to give us their version... Ever get the feeling that some trades people think that they're the ones doing you a favour? I've also experienced the not-ringing-to-tell-you-they're-not-coming. Absolute insult. That's why we need the Poles! I tried to get a chimney sweep last year (based in S2, can't remember the name). We'd arranged a time and day. He rang me a minute before he was due to check that I still wanted him to come so that he knew whether he should bother coming out! No, tell you what you lazy friggin' oik, don't bother, eh? julado
Think yourself lucky....am in process of having bathroom done under the decent homes scheme and the plastering is fluffy.....its been painted and the walls are very slightly furry.. So if you are having your walls plastered courtesy of Sheffield Homes I can thoroughly recommend the flock plastering....
