medusa
You must be so worried Lisspot. It's not like you can do any different though- she needs to have the operation or the pyometra is likely to cause much worse health problems. Sending you some calm for this evening and tonight, and crossing my fingers for you.
hennypenny
Hi Lisspot My dog had pyometra and very nearly died with it. The vet said it was only because she was able to give her a brand new drug to open her cervix and drain the pus that she survived. As soon as she recovered a bit, she had to have a hysterectomy. I was really scared as she was 11 years old, and sometimes has breathing problems, so I did wonder if we should leave her in peace, but a year later she is great, she runs around like a pup I hope your dog has an equally happy outcome. Best wishes.
Lisspot
i hope the outcome is as happy too...with my dog the pus is coming out which is a good thing but still bad i mean if it wudnt drain out theres more chance of it harming her...she is going on 11 in november so i was wondering what to do but at the end of the day she is my dog and i didn't want to lose her so its the best thing i can do for her i am just watching the clock go by but it doesn't seem to be going very quickly thanks for all ur nice replies
Diddles
Hi Lisspot My dog had pyometra and very nearly died with it. Best wishes. Our dog Bonnie also had this condition. We were on holiday in Skegness at the time and took her to the local vet as she was so poorly. He told us we needed to go home immediately, phoned our vet and arranged for him to see us as soon as we got home - it was that serious. We were really worried as she went for the operation, as she too was almost 11 years old. However, once she got over the operation it was like she had got a new lease of life and she never looked back. She lived until she was almost 16, so had another 5 years that she may not have, had she not had the op. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your pet. Moonbird
I hope everything goes really well for your dog, vets are really marvelous these days and perform miracles under the most difficult circumstances. I know nothing will make you feel better now until your dog has been and come back home safely, but you are doing the very best you can for her, without your intervention she might be in the most serious type of trouble now.
