Free repair faulty canon ixus v3i

I'll cut this as short as possible. Whilst on holidy my 3 year old camera started playing up, the screen started flickering from true colour to a green and purple tinged view which kind of looked like the northern lights. On our return to Sheff I spoke to Jacobs just off the Moor and said I think it's the sensor which has gone as I the display still shows the camera settings etc. I was told yes its probably the sensor and will cost around £100 to sort but they could sell me a new canon compact with higher pixel etc on a special cashback deal from canon for the same price.

At this point I walked away as we are in the market for a digi slr and I don't need two new digi cameras. I went to Ron Harrison's on London Rd to check prices on slr's and told them about the sensor. By a miracle I seem to have stumbled on someone who knows what he's talking about and he tells me it's a known fault and canon will probably repair free of charge.

I rang canon yesterday and sure enough they have given me an address to send it to for assesment before they confirm if it is the known fault before repairing foc.

cheers venger. only downside is we needed a compact quickly for portability so we ran out and bought a kodak .....and a canon slr to replace 2 non digi slr's .......then of course we have 2 x 3.2 mega pixel camera phones!

How many digi cams does a family of three need? :)
