spk_ben
I've seen many posters on First buses lately advertising the "New X78" - what's it all about? The X78, as I understand, is the bus service run by First (b*st*rds!) which runs from Doncaster (Conisborough, etc.) to Meadowhall via the Sheffield Interchange. But what's the change they've made, or are to make? The posters are extremely inadequate at pointing out why we should be interested in the "New X78"... Anyone know any more? Great if you could fill us in!
baileys_mum
I think they are stopping it going into doncaster from sheffield direct, it'll go to Rotherham then turn back and the same from doncaster to rotherham you'll have to change (I think?) Nutronic
if its anything like what they proposed for january then nothing will come of it..... Twenty B9/Wright double-decker buses are due to upgrade the X78 route in January 2007. All twenty buses will now be based at Rotherham Midland Road Garage though previously they were to be shared with Doncaster Leger Way depot, These are now due around the end of March. The peak vehicle requirement is eighteen vehicles for route X78 and two will be kept as spares.

Zimily
Having used this service many times over the year I'm suprised they are willing to put brand new buses on it! I imagine it won't take long for them to be vandelised. Although I do think it's great they are getting new buses out and about there.
