I'll have your guts for garters (took me years to twig this one, but only 'cos I didn't know what garters were )

When we'd ask what was for dinner: "A run round the table and a kick at the pantry door".

When someone was sulking, she'd say "What's up wi' 'im? He's gorra face like Humpty Logan". Still makes my ribs shake today :D

Never spend more than you can save

I posted something similar on the tread about claiming back bank charges and was accused of being offensive, just shows you our grandparents knew better.

''Dozy Dinah Ducklegs'', at least i think how its spelt. I have no idea where it came from, my gran is Welsh. It was used if you did something stupid or were generally being a dopey sod.

"yer eyes are bigger than yer belly"

Very confusing to a small child. Took me years to understand what it meant.

Another one was "yer've got 'oller legs"

What makes you think I was always eating.:hihi:
