Clangeroo
Hi, Just thought one of you helpful folk might know where I can arrange for someone to coach me on swimming - nearly drowned when I was 10 during a school swimming lesson and have been terrified to swim without armbands or a ring or something since. I know how to do the movements etc, but not sure about treading water, I think its just a confidence thing. Now I have a child, I feel a bit daft not being able to swim, and look ridiculous in armbands at the pool! - any advice really appreciated. Thanks

Thanks Just put some arm floats on or a body float, until you get more confident. You feel as though you are really swimmimg, and become so confident that you will eventuall swim without the floats. samc
Heeley Swimming Baths do classes for adults wanting to learn to swim or learn new techniques which do not involve the swimming instructor shouting at you as you refuse to let go of the float ( unlike school swimming lessons).
