brooksy Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 you have got to start somewhere though havent you, Yes totally agree and Hansens comments haunt him to this day.For sure its the way forward for teams in the championship and probably the lower tier off the prem.Given the amount of money paid for being in the prem a lot of teams dont play decent football and are hanging on by there teeth. The only plus side to this is that you get to see all the best players in the prem ete.Would fans rather be up at the top of the championship chasing promotion or at the bottom of the prem struggling.Financially yes to the prem but football and excitment maybe not.

brooksy Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 id sooner be in the top half of the prem chasing europe to be honest but i think thats a couple of years away To be honest i cant see either sheff team making a challenge for any european place in the next ten years .Robson has a manager will be under pressure next season to get utd straight back up and has seen with Leeds its not that straight forward.Leeds were crippled with debt granted but i personally think getting out is getting harder everey season.Sunderland for me are the so called "big club" to go up but having watched them this season there team isnt good enough to stay up.There spending will be massive but lokk at Newcastle and how there position and spending as brought nothing.I think Laws for us has to push on a bit but we over achieved and for that reason think Robson is under more pressure to be honest.
tosh13 Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Sunderland ,Birmingham & maybe WBA in the top flight again a year since they were relegated,we have a bigger & better squad than the season we went up ,so I think we will have no trouble winning the Championship & assuming West Ham get there just deserts we could be back sooner than expected, but I am not holding my breath.

CorkerSWFC Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 "The problem is tho you never win anything with youngsters".Alan Hansen.********. :hihi: That famous old comment eh, he,ll never live that down hansen lol

I shouldn't think we will have any problems there,if Jags goes, so what, he is a good player but a midfielder he isn't & we have enough defenders & strikers ,it's a couple of good midfielders we need & we will be strong enough in all departments.

Yes, but Jagielka is more than 'just a midfielder'. He sort of acts as Sheffield Uniteds 'backbone' in a way, and because he has always been there, its going to be strange on the team if he goes. Of course, he is replacable, but I think Phil is one of those players who is an inspiration to the team, not just any old player. It's the same for Gerrard with Liverpool (maybe not the BEST example) he is more than just their Captain, and midfielder. If somone said to me 'if i say to you Sheffield United, what player do you think of ?' Id probably say Jagielka.
CorkerSWFC Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 If someone said to me 2 weeks ago "Sheffield United" first thing what would have come to my mind would have been Neil Warnock, it will be weird him not managing you.
marmite Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 True, but Warny wasnt a player. I meant on the pitch playing.
